Which Stern? Any recommendations...

As usual its all what YOU like, everyone has turds and gems.

For me LOTR,SMan,AC/DC(maybe going forward MET)

Whilst I don't agree with that comment, it is very stop start.
I'm relatively new to pinball and I have TSPP in my local. I just find it very hard to get into and u have to be a very good player to get anywhere on it. It just feels like the £1 goes in and the balls just sink. At least with the other sterns mentioned anyone can walk up and have a bit of a go and quickly work out the basics. TSPP is just out right punishing! - perhaps it's not awful if you can actually play (I can't):(

I've only played one tspp and I never found it to be a drain monster. That could be the way it's set up I know back in the day operators used to like to have their machines set really steep so they would drain easily maximising takings.

It could be. I know it is very hard for the flippers to get the ball all the way up the ramp. and to be fair to TSPP the general condition of the machine at my local is not great. This all contributes to a bad experience I suppose .... I am going out again today (day off work!) so might give it another chance.

As for the maximising takings, I don't think its a good idea to increase the difficulty too much on games because new players just seem to feel a bit pee'd off and then don't return to it. Much better to set your games up easier in pubs where your gonna get more casual players. At least that way the machine gets used and people get addicted to it because they had a good game.. Just my thoughts on the world... Lol:)

On TSPP getting the ball from the mini playfield up the couch ramp is very difficult anyway, the little flippers are just powerful enough to do it if timed PERFECTLY. It can be frustrating but I think it's how it should be, if that shot was easy getting multiball would be too easy, it's just right in my opinion. I do get frustrated with it but also laugh at myself for missing it so often, which makes it all the sweeter when you pull it off.

Arrrgghhh!! That shot used to **** me right off! But I agree that it's good that it is tricky else the game would be a lot easier. Did used to wind me up though. One of the trickiest shots in pinball I reckon.
