I was thinking the other night, that my Judge Dredd has seen the following machines come and go:

Cactus Canyon, STTNG, Safecracker, Apollo13, TZ, RFM, CftBL, Police force, Fireball II, Swords of Fury, Roadkings, EftLW, IJ wms, Getaway,HMM, Simpson DE and a few others that I cant remember at the moment.

It currently sits with a Batman forever, Whitewater, Gtb Hulk, WCS94 , Meteor and a couple of EMs.

I reckon it will be last one out, should that day ever come.

Which machine do you own and reckon is, really, a keeper? Or which one have you kept hold of the longest?

I'm really interested, bet there are a few surprise keepers out there. Answers please, not related to price or the ipdb rating list.

John

Indianapolis 500. Although I would prefer one with a better cab.

Edit: I haven't had this the longest, just that it would probably be the last one I'd sell.

Terminator 2 is the one I had the longest. About 5 years and I wish I'd kept it.

Due to only having room for 2 (was 1 until I shifted a load of furniture from the kitchen to the dining room!!) generally my machines get rotated every 6 months or so. So my Congo is the longest serving at about 8 months!!

But it's still going strong, it'd have to be a Funhouse or WH20 to make me trade;-)

Whirlwind has stayed the longest so far, and it would have to be something pretty special to make me consider getting rid of it.

my bsd was my first pin, bought it 12 years ago from the original pinball paradise, fully restored , still got it,now up to 10 pins

Roadshow and Creature have been around for 12 years. About 100 machines have come and gone, but those 2 will be with me until the end

SF2 and TAF both lasted about a year. I'm planning on keeping WOZ for a long time but I've said that about lots of other pins too

Longest one I had was either my CBW about 8 years ish(now gone),or my AFM which I have had since Nov 2004,then STTNG ,now gone,at6 1/2 years, and ny NIB RBION also at 6 1/2 years but also still have that one

Then MM at 6 years one month 15 days;)

Tommy , nearly 10 years-my first pin, one of the best examples I have seen ....and I still enjoy playing it. When it goes I will be done with pinball

Space Station - I just love the vibe of that game. I now keep it up at Grizz Mums, so it also feels fresh to play it every few months

Creature, Plenty have come and gone but Creech is still much loved. Think I have had her since 2006.

A lot of top titles have passed through inc. MM, CV, MB, including another Creature that I totally pimped (New everything) but it just didn't play as good as my first so it lost out.

Not everyone fav machine but once you have that killer game it just clicks and everything falls into place.

For me, Creech is the best looking pin ever made. I love it. Which reminds me, I need to add it to the wanted part of my signature.

Good choice.

Not everyone's cup of tea but then again it would be a bugger if we all liked the same machine.

I seem to be moving pins on way too quickly:confused:

Before the madness too hold I had a 1966 Crosstown for nearly 4 years - great pin.

If I was to predict, I think BSD may be kept for a long time as very addictive, challenging, great lighting/sounds and a relative bargain!

Cliche as it is, MM. It was our second pin, and since then a fair few have come and gone but MM will never leave. Coming up on six years now and it still gets about as much play as anything else in the collection!

Ditto my MM has also been here 6 years

Tho,if in financial hardship would be one of first to go,for obvious reasons:eek:

It's the Gottlieb one. Bought it off a guy in Sheffield when I was first getting into pinballs. Semi restored it a few years ago & it plays fine, but want to do it again, now I'm a bit more experienced.

I thought my first pin JD, would have been my keeper but that sold after the UK show nearly 2 years ago. Was never the same after I put 14.5Billion on it one day.

My second pin is still with me though - Spirit. I did have some interest from the states a couple of years ago - how much says he ? $5000 says me... Needless to say it didn't sell !

Mind you, they do go for a fair few thou over there - thankfully cheaper over in Europe:D

I'm still a little fresh faced to all this as I only bought my first pin back in October/November last year. A Data East Star Wars. I then purchased South Park at the beginning of Feb this year and then added Terminator 2 at the end of March.

(notice how I spell them all out as I'm still unsure of all the acronyms and there maybe other newbies out there reading this
biggrin-1.png
)

At this stage, I just can't imagine getting rid of any of them. I don't have room for any more even though I'm on the waiting list for Predator. I just can't imagine having to let one go. Not that I'm emotionally attached to any. I bought them because I wanted them.

I want more.....even though there is no room for more. I'd love a Starship Troopers and if one came along at the right price, I'd probably snap it up. Think I'd just fold one of my existing machines up and store it in the garage.

I don't want to sell any. Is that greedy? Or is it because I'm a newbie? A hoarder maybe? I dunno...

Well there ya go Phil - proved you are a newbie:pThat's WHY you have a garage-add insulation and a dehumidifer then £1200 later(and a few hundred more for security/alarms) you have a pin room.

It is that easy:)Thats what I and many other pinheads did

Or spend a couple of grand on a posh pin shed

Welcome to the nuthouse

I think part of the problem is that you can't just go out there and get a replacement if you decide you want the same title again, sure you can with some at a similar price depending on the time frame but with others you'll be waiting a long time and will potentially have to fork out more money for an inferior example when you do which never sits well. I purchased my JM a few years back, not seen one for sale since and only one other advertised in the last 4 years (that was before I purchased mine), if I sold who knows when I would get a chance to buy another one, I have seen more MM, CV,CC and TOTANs for sale than the JM which discourages parting with it, there are shed loads of other aspects which encourage their possession all of which convert the average Joe into a hoarder

Sorry dude:

MM - Medieval Madness

CV - Circus Voltaire

CC - Cactus Canyon

TOTAN - Tales of the Arabian Nights

JM - Johnny Mnemonic

You will no doubt be familiar with some but just in case there are some noobs reading this. I sometimees have to check also, everytime I see RBION I have to think for a moment
