Love to hear peoples thoughts on what the best DE game was. Just watched DE Simpsons end on ebay and seen a few people saying they liked it - not personally a fan and glad Stern did TSPP as thats more like what the cartoon deserved. Equally disappointed with DE BTTF and hope the rumours of a new version are true and its done properly. But anyway, whats peoples best DE machine? I have always enjoyed LW3, but thats probably a nostalgia thing as my local bowling had The Getaway, TAF and LW3 and I enjoyed all 3 back then. What's your favourite Data East?

Yeah it’s a wide body which I usually don’t like- but the up kickers and ring upper playfield were really fun to get to. Think it was probably Big Phil’s game at Pinfest- my main gripe with DE is the sound effects are super repetitive- I can’t stand Rocky and Bullwinkle wrong hat noise. If I was more technically competent fixing games I’d probably look for a DE- I’ve never played LW3 but the loopy ramp gives me SW vibes

Tftc for me game has so much going on its crazy and one of the only ones I miss having let go. poto the most overrated, gnr I've never played. Robocop is a great game too

TFTC is a theme I like but never actually played the pin. I know theres a sick one in a container in Glasgow that the owner wants to get fixed. I am tempted to offer to try and get it going based on the theme. Seems like a game thats worth saving. Outwith my current skillset to fix it from what the owner has described but enjoy learning stuff so might try and grab it and fix it for him with help of people on here.

Back to the Future for me. Reminds me alot of System 11 gameplay which I love.

Then I'd say Lethal Weapon; had the potential with the IP and the gameplay to be a great game, it's just a bit fugly.

TFTC is highly rated because it's an imitation of a deeper Williams ruleset, so it can be third.

Simpsons probably fourth for being Simpsons.

Star Wars fifth for being Star Wars. Very simple but it can be.

Rest are feature farms which I struggle with, JP probably best amongst them. Between JP, LAH and GnR there's over 9000 forgettable feature modes.

I would say TFTC it's the deepest of the DE.

Second Jurassic park, pretty fun.

Third lethal weapon simple but something about it is one more go
I meant second and third in fun and theme not depth 🤣🤣🤣 Jurassic park about as deep as pikki park paddling pool

Best multiball start too..'the wrecking crew is here the wrecking crew is here' great game just doesn't have the depth of tftc
I like robocop I forget that day east, still personally prefer Jurassic park and lethal weapon over it, in that order. Love the Dino eating the ball, but a lot has to do with nostalgia both played alot, JP in columbia, south america, Lw skipping college.

JP I've only had a few games on and it was forgettable, LW3 I've had twice but both times was my only pin and got boring after a while, in a bigger collection definitely space for one DE

Yeh it's not very deep, it's like watching karate kid as an adult never seeing it before 🤣 but if you played it in your formative years it has a different vibe 🖐️🤭 or transformers the movie/garbage pail kids and discovering it's actually 💩

They have a place. Both have nostalgic appeal, plunger, 3 ball lock the old 8 digit displays and great themes. Both of mine have upgraded sound too.
Although the theme of bttf does do some heavy lifting at times sometimes a quick blast suits me :)

JP, definitely. Out of the ones I’ve played, at least.

SW is super-simple, but the multiball is probably the best ‘event’ in pinball - the lighting, the music, it all comes together.

Otherwise, Tommy is pretty fun.

I own many Data Easts.

Torpedo Alley is the best no question. The integration of sound/lighting/displays on that game is beyond any other pinball machine from that time period.

People will pick "the best" based on which is their favourite theme, so everyone will pick Star Wars or Guns and Roses when you do a poll

Robocop, is one of my all time favourite films, but I really struggle to gel with the table, but only play it each year at events when you can't really hear it.

GnR, are my favourite all time band, I've never played the DE table, other than on a virtual table, so can't really comment.

LW3 always seems to get a lot of recommendations as a first pin, and I wouldn't say no to be it being my next purchase, having played it a few times.

SW, personally I don't like, I think it is fairly shallow aside from the multi ball.

TFTC, having watched the HEP series, on the face of it, seems to tick pretty much every box for me. Another furm TV favourite. But I've never played one (yet).

JP another fave movie but never played the table.

So, on the face of it, DE seem to have captured some amazing titles from my youth.
