Was Munsters rubbish?

Got to say I really liked munsters, probably because it was so easy (that’s not always a bad point)
helped a lot by the great art work.

not really a game you are going to be playing all night but in a larger collection it’s a great addition. When at A friends house his munsters was always busy (usually the first a non pinhead went to)
as for the comment about the canned laughter, it was a feature in the show so needed to be in the pin and adds authenticity I think. Also the jokes are that corny you need to be told when it’s funny 😜

Keep speculating ;)

Thats why peeps like @CHRIS B PINBALLS and @myPinballs have had to literally strip their machines to make adjustments to make them play right?

I wouldn't say i had to strip the whole machine, but i did have to take the lower portion of both ramps off to get to the stuff underneath and bend a few things. Mainly the LHS loop rail at the end and the ball shooter gate wire on the RHS. Not had any issues with the ramp and demogorgon shot. Pretty easy to make it into its mouth on mine. Easier from left flipper than right.

Though i was sceptical of stranger things at first, i am now a complete convert and think its a great game with decent depth. Just bought it blind following my usual theme is king process having not flipped a ball on it and have the same enjoyment feeling with it as i did when afm was new in the trocedero in london back in 1995. :)

Munsters is a nice theme, excellent art work but just boring to play. Not all games need to be super deep but this takes the biscuit. Any game where you can get to the 'wizard' mode within the first 30 minutes of play is not great in my view.

I’ve got an LE.

TO be honest it’s not Stern’s best pin. There are worse games out there but Munsters isn’t in the same league as say Elvira or Iron Maiden.

I actively dislike the lower play field. The small balls are pretty much impossible to accurately flip.

code’s lacking, so it’s quite a shallow game.

Guess it depends on your tastes. It’s fun for a few flips but I wouldn’t have it as my only game.

munsters is the turd to rule them all.

Stranger Things I think is a great game, awesome theme and its like a modern AFM, sure the gorgon is a bit iffy but when a game is setup right its easy to shoot. I think I've seen more Stranger things on here than many other games.

Didn't they add code to bash the demo instead? I think you still get extra points and stuff if you get the mouth shot right?

Sent from my Atari 2600

Yeah, it has an Energy Bar that goes down as you bash it. Works really well, but obviously less scoring than in the mouth!

As a pinball enthusiast munsters is not a great game due to lack of inserts and poor code but as a casual walk up and put a pound in the arcade type of player it’s ok fun and pretty simple and good ball time
Looking at sterns production schedule for the end of this year in to next then it looks like munsters and bk3000 now dropped
St is absolutely awesome won’t leave my personal collection as Neil said great modern take of the classic afm with so much more not a massively deep rule set but more than enough for me the demogorgan mouth shot is good 100% achievable with the right power and angle of the flippers
I do like a simple ish rule set that you can have fun with I am getting very bored of complete ones that take ages to learn and are no fun for a casual player

I've never played Munster.

The first time that I played Stranger things I didn't like it for a number of reasons.

The second time I warmed to it and the third time I really enjoyed playing it.

That being said what mypinballs has described above is exactly what others I've visited have had to do. I'm gobsmaked that a toy which costs £6-10k requires mending, shaving, cutting and propping up to make it function. These aren't 'adjustments', they're faults. In effect the game wasn't finished, quality controlled and sufficiently tested before going to market.

I find it amazing that so many are accepting of having to repair something that costs thousands before they can do the very thing that it was built to do.

I'd love one but my whole reason for buying newer machines was to minimize repairs so I won't consider it.

A very good game when fixed though.

I tend to agree it’s a bit shocking but nearly every game I’ve bought has needed some sort of tweak out of the box. Apparently the same has been true since pinball started... Worst was iron maiden,

I just feel like it's all down to lacklustre code. What is there to do bar collect the family members and then play Munster Madness? Things like Midnight Madness are a nice touch but it feels like there is a lot of stuff on the game with it serving very little purpose. I feel like Stern have done this on purpose to make it a popular location game easy to play and understand for the average punter rather than the home collectors.

^^^^ At Stern, I think it also depends if you have the “A” or “B” design team on your pin. I’m not talking about the guy who dreams up the idea or notion but the electro-mechanical engineers who make the mechs actually work and not fall over after a few outings.
MET Premium vs IMDN Premium for example.
