Earlier this year I approached Pete Townshend if he would like to be inducted into the U.K. Pinball Hall of Fame.
He graciously accepted the nomination and his induction was formally announced at the recent Pinball Expo in Chicago.
The hall was filled to capacity and the announcement was met with rapturous applause.
The citation was ‘for shining the spotlight on pinball with the release of Pinball Wizard in 1969 and keeping pinball in the public consciousness ever since and, perpetuating pinball as part of pop culture throughout the World’.
There was an audible sigh of disappointment when I told the audience, Pete was unable to attend and receive the award in person.
However, I was able to share some words from Pete with those assembled.
Attached is a photo of the award; I will post a photo of Pete with the award in due course.
