Hey guys, what’s the best media to use with a tumbler? Got a few bolts and posts I want to get cleaned up. Also what recommended time. Never used one before so have no clue what so ever
Cheers

These guys - fast delivery
Do all types of media - treated + untreated.
As @Spandangler says, walnut good for stubborn stuff. You can also buy a paste to help things along.
I use tumbling for Brass though for shooting - not pin stuff - but same really.

Thanks guys. Quite a few there for me to choose from then. Will get something ordered. And also try some of that polish stuff. Am I right in thinking you need to leave for a day or two?

Nice, I will try some of that. How do you apply it? Or do you just chuck it in [emoji23]

You just add a few squirts to the media before tumbling - not too much though 👍
The Media and polish is available at Hannams reloading.
The Tufnut last ages - you can reuse it loads of times. When I tumble brass I switch the tumbler on for a couple hours and it’s gleaming.

That’s great. Will order from them. Got a tumbler in the week. Just wanted to know what’s best to use. There was so much I thought I best ask.
Thanks for your help [emoji106]

Its best to remove grease ( if present) and remove surface dirt before adding parts to the tumbler.
Makes the media more effective and it lasts a bit longer and.

Thanks. Will make sure I give the stuff a good clean before it goes in [emoji106]

I use a slug of autosol (not to be confused with anusol. Two totally different products with catastrophic consequences should you mix them up)

I’ve got a berry tumbler. However I was lucky enough to get mine of Daz. Not sure they sell them here. The Lyman will be fine

OK.. so I’ve just bought the Lyman tumbler and Stainless Steel media..

Will show the results after a few parts are tumbled, how long it took etc

Interesting. I would guess you won't be changing the media that often[emoji16]
I wonder how it will deal with the smaller parts.
