TOTAN the final chapter

I am delighted that this all got sorted

What a great community this is

Awesome gesture, that is amazing and hats off to Phil, seems like the only one that is left loosing out is me, I lost circa a grand on the trade against the TWD when I had to front the cash instead to put a close to it / get everything finalised and TOTAN released and an additional £200 on couriers, ah well, at least someone came out on top, glad Mike got a result as it was a major head***k for both of us, I'll keep my eye out for a big box :D, even a thanks would be a start.

Yeah that's just awesome gesture from Phil. Excellent customer service as always and you can't go wrong with him. Great to hear all worked out in the end. Also GOT is amazing.

Cheers
Greg

What an amazing gesture! I'm thoroughly impressed and know where my money will be going if I ever decide to buy something NIB in the future.

a superb response from Phil, turning a horrible scenario into a great outcome

So while everyone was at the party celebrating the return of Phil’s TOTAN and Mikes GOT, one forum member took time out to check up on me (thank you, you know who you are), well here’s some more facts relating to all this that some prominent members already know and the rest of you don’t, maybe then you can decide how I should feel.

  1. TWD comes up for trade, Tyke is offered 5.7k cash, I offer my TOTAN and 3k bank transfer (stating any TOTAN is worth 3k these days, I had the TOTAN in at 2.8k on the trade, £100 more than his best offer), 3k is transferred and Tyke purchases a playfield immediately (a week before the exchange is scheduled to take place via courier) would have been wiser to at least wait until the machine had arrived and suited before purchasing a playfield but this locked the transaction down.

  2. In the meantime Chris B offers a TOTAN on here for 3.7k which is snapped up in a heartbeat, I go back to Tyke stating that I had undervalued the TOTAN by at least £600 and I would be £800 better off if I pulled out and sold it on the forum (extremely tempting and the exchange had not taken place at this point), BUT I will honour our original agreement because that’s how I play and take the potential loss on the chin (Tyke states OK to me backing out providing I purchase the playfield, could have done this and got a free playfield or GOT :) but honoured the original transaction, most would have backed out and gone for the extra ££££ leaving Tyke to resell the playfield.

  3. Days after receiving, Tyke decides to bail on the playfield swap and flip for a profit, obviously I’m gutted as I could have done that in the 1st place myself, he kindly offers to split any profit above 6k as he knew I very reluctantly let it go to be honourable.

  4. Machine is flipped at a potential 3.7K on the forum and the **** storm starts (stolen TOTAN allegation), I have to deal with 4 parties (solicitor, Tyke, Phil and Arcade Clearance), Tyke demands and additional 3k or his machine back, (at this point I have already paid 3k + my TOTAN for the TWD), I decline transferring another 3k and offer to cover all the return costs using Martin to return the TWD to Tyke, this would have resulted in Tyke being £120 down on the whole fiasco and me another £85 further out of pocket, this was declined and the TOTAN would not be released to Phil until this was resolved (playfield was already up for sale before the **** hit the fan so this has to be removed from the equation)

  5. I offer and additional 2.5k to make the problem go away and to have the TOTAN released to Phil, I obviously didn’t want to do this as I never intended parting with 5.5k and my TOTAN for TWD, Tyke agrees, I transfer the additional 2.5k allowing Phil to reclaim the goods.

  6. No hard evidence was produced to the best of my knowledge to confirm this was the TOTAN, no photo evidence, no serial number, no crime number although it is safe to assume it is the one and I am happy to see it go back to its rightful owner (stated that it would happen that way from the start before any conclusions were made)

  7. Phil swaps a GOT for the TOTAN as a good will gesture , Mike ends up getting a new GOT in exchange for a headf**k and a £120 loss (had the option to have his TWD back at no extra cost), Phil gets his TOTAN back saving him X amount because as far as I know his courier had declined to compensate him for the loss (I could be wrong, this is all grey and with no police record and no one prosecuted, it all seems a bit cloak and dagger) I end up losing all potential profit on my TOTAN (upwards of £1000 potentially 1.5k+ and paying 5.5k for the TWD + Martin and another courier)

  8. Not even a thanks apart from AC, so how would you feel when there are GOT’s given away and everyone is cheering hooray? Seeing as my TOTAN was swapped for a GOT (fair trade), I think the original trade should be honoured and I should get my 2.5k back and AC should get a look in too or am I being unreasonable?

  9. Maybe there is a sweetener due in at any moment from the PH camp and maybe I will be on here later in on the party but at the moment I am just seeing what my options are, your thoughts, views etc are welcome, cheers the Dreadmeister.
I live my life according to the law of karma so no stress ;)

So, leaving aside transport costs:

Dreads has paid £5.5k PLUS his TOTAN for the TWD.

Tyke has received £5.5k PLUS Phil's GOT for the TWD.

Is that right???

So, leaving aside transport costs:

Dreads has paid £5.5k PLUS his TOTAN for the TWD. (Problem is technically it wasn't his TOTAN,buying anything 2nd hand is buyer beware. He passed the TOTAN on so it was in Tykes possession so he got the reward)

Tyke has received £5.5k PLUS Phil's GOT for the TWD.

Is that right???

I would absolutely hate to be in Dreads position but when it comes to stolen good bought by an innocent party the rules are pretty clear in the eyes of the law.
Dreads should be chasing the ebay seller AND should get the police involved.

These posts aren't adding up?

You say you're £1k out in one post against the trade you made (which I assume is because you revalued Totan at £3.7k rather than £2.7k)

It seems like in the next post you're saying you paid £5.5k + Totan for TWD?

Great gesture from Phil but it's unclear who actually lost out? (Apart from Phil for the price of a GOT)

The GOT deal between @tyke and myself I left open for Mike to discuss however he wanted or not at all - it didn't matter to me, it may or may not be as clear cut as you all imagine but that is between us.

Now the 1 unique thing about @tyke is that he is a consumer. AC, PH and Mr Dreads are all businesses. In business "you can't win em all" as I always say. Ultimately you will make a loss and move on. Its BUSINESS. We can all take a loss on the chin (or pack up and work at Tesco if we can't), the important thing was having the customer who was @r$e reamed sorted out.

Mike took a £500 loss on the TWD for 2 weeks use (?) then took another £500 when AD bought back the TOTAN for £500 less than the PX value he just gave him, plus the loss of potentially some profit.

I made that loss upto him.

End of story.

Phil

But surely the £500 loss on TWD is incidental? If I buy a game and decide it's crap and id rather have a Totan + cash then thats just my bad luck?

I can only see one thing here Greed just because Chris sold a machine for X amount what the hell makes your alleged machine at the time worth the same and you are on of the first to moan about prices of other people's machines.

Also the comment a members checked me out you know who you are wtf is that all about.

I didn't even realise you were part of the **** storm [emoji26]

Ultimately it's got nowt to do with me, I appreciate that. But whilst people keep sharing the information publicly it would be nice to clear up what actually happened as their seems to be some bad feelings currently

WTF, it was not greed it was just market value (same title in similar condition), if I was greedy I would have backed out and listed for 3.7k, regarding the gentleman who saw my side of things, that was nice from where I was standing last night, I don't moan about prices, I am sometimes surprised like many on here, makes no odds to me as I rarely buy machines, think you have a skewed view on it all but hey, each to their own

Don't know full story but reading this thread it seems -

Phil made a fantastic gesture to a customer of his which is great business practice.

Customer did a complicated deal with Andy and due to insane prices at the moment, realized he could flip TOTAN for a quick grand profit.

TOTAN stolen. Boom, a mess.

Customer ends up compensated and ends up with an amazing outcome.

Andy loses out.

Seems like Phil has done more than enough and if any further action ( compensation taken, between customer and Andy??

Andy got his money refunded back for TOTAN, he is not out of pocket on the purchase price he paid for it.
Andy ended up with a cheaper than market value TWD which makes up for any small loss on couriers.
Phil got TOTAN back.

Tyke got GOT which will soon be flipped as I asked Phil for a GOAT!

A the end of the day TOTAN was stolen and was no ones to profit on or keep!

@jonathan my depreciation loss on TWD of £500 was incidental I have never disputed that. Phil did that off his own back.

I am down almost a grand on the original transaction as I had to pay an additional £900 + the refund to pay for TWD so that Phil could have his TOTAN back, + 2 sets of courier fees, that is fact.

We all know where we stand, time to move on.

If I had the energy I would lay down the facts to prove you are up on all of this. You are down on profit, nothing else, the machine was stolen you cant profit on a stolen machine!

You have a very appropriate user name!

OK I hope there are enough facts in this thread for people to understand what has gone on. I don't want this one to turn into mudslinging in any way. The parties concerned have all posted their version so I don't think we need to regurgitate it. All we need to know now is @tyke thoughts on GoT
