Have just got this in the last week and enjoying getting my head round the rules and scoring strategies.

It occured to me today how very like Bram Stokers Dracula this game is ... not the layout or anything but the 'all or nothing' nature of the play - it's all about setting up a multiplier of sorts to then really take advantage of the scoring opportunities. In Drac its stacking the 3 Multiballs together , in Who its the 4x Playfield multiplier .

Not surprisingly Barry Oursler designed both. I'm a big fan of his games. He had a lovely way with smooth looping ramps :)

I enjoyed mine for a time. Then the music ground on me and I found it a bit repetitive. However the time expander is awesome and I loved multiball, one of the best. It would definitely have stayed had I had room for more than one pin at the time, however it came at the time before kids and I had a strict revolving door policy!!
I totally get it as part of a larger collection though

Good game but I found the scoring relying too much on the 4x loop and Sonic Boom.
The quality of the sound samples is shocking too.

sound lets it down. rehash of pinbot but I am Dr Who mad so no brainer. I am not a great fan of pinsound but the murray gold video on youtube sounded great

BTW Sgt Grizz have you considered pinsound for TOMMY? Seriously thinking of it to dump the stageshow and bring on the WHO!

Early days but I'm enjoying mine, as said good probably if you have a few pins, not really got into the rule set yet. The wife got 101 million! my best so far is 58 million! having said that no settings have been done yet.

Scores in the billions are common on this Ronnie .... though not for me yet :D

Yes, similarities to BSD where really the whole game relys on getting multi multiballs. Which can also get tiresome ......HOWEVER when it happens its a major buzz, like Dr Who having a ripper multiball with the multiplier maxed out . It certainly gives both games the '1 more game factor'.

Both games, having lightning flippers, can also punish missed shots.

I thought about changing the flippers when I had them stripped but only looked a couple of mm smaller than standard! but I suppose that can make all the difference

Always liked a bit of Dr Who. Only ever played it at shows however. I think i'd have to get the pinsound mod as it sounds sooooo much better.

I love to play it in tournaments, because if you just play it for WHO loops and sonic booms it is the safest most consistent game out there. My strategy, start Doctor's 6,2 and 3 at the beginning of each ball and shoot loops and booms. Don't miss and you can play all day as the ball is never out of control. Obviously this is boring in comparison to going for multiball and its why i eventually sold mine, because this was definitey the most dominant strategy. My best was around 4.5b and over 200 loops. A fab game for learning how to grind if you like that king of thing, but does get boring in a home environment

I agree total 'all or nothing' game, I'd never own one because it has a 1 shot strategy which is far higher scoring than anything else which is doctor 7 (I think, the one that advances ramps quicker?), then ramps and sonic booms all day. That's it, if you can lock that combo down your golden.

True. But there is much satisfaction to be had beyond just points. Clearing the Dalek / Davros waves etc :-)

Like many games you *can* just repeat one shot infinitum but you tend not to cos it's pretty tedious.

Playing games at home is WAY different to competition.

Tourney/ scoring strategies have their place but in home play can reduce games to mere points whores. I love the little mini goals on games even if they don't reward the big points. Keeps it interesting, and equally satisfying.

Doctor 6 for ramps (which is why Craig said 6). Doctor 7 is to advance to multiball quicker and is the default setting from ball plunge.

Have had my dw for more than 10 years now and I still keep on coming back to it. I probably agree that it struggles as a single pin in a collection but I have others so it is fine. When I first started buying pins I had the dw and R&B. When the chop had to come because of lack of space, dw stayed with me. What's the pinsound mod?

Different pins for different people...

Dr Who has never clicked for me. the time expander is cool but the rest of it doesn't grab me.

I feel almost exactly the same way about Dracula. Drac should have been a no brainer for me but something about the design and the colour scheme has always put me off.

Never owned either of them, so maybe I'd grow to love them if I had one here.

Maybe Mr Oursler isn't the designer you're looking for? <does jedi hand thingy > :D

How do you find Dirty Harry? Another of his.

I had a Dirty Harry (£700 off ebay, those were the days). It was OK but nothing special. Wouldn't be in a rush to get another one. Matt Vince ruined it for me by pointing out the camp call outs. When you hear Clint say "let's grab some ass" it's hard to unhear it.

Oursler def isn't for you then! I love all his games, except Who Dunnit.... before @Matt Adams pipes up ;)

Update after having it a couple weeks....., I can't stop playing the bloody thing :-D

Very addictive.

Do you not find yourself just trying to shoot the side ramp then Sonic Booms ?

with all this DW talk does anybody need a full cliffy kit, think there are 5 in there, not even opened the box.

After looking what I paid which was $113 and then a custom charge I would except £50 which is half what they cost me,I just open the box to see whats in there, 7 in total.
Please forgive the sales post in here, but I see everybody talking Dr Who and just thought one of you guys would like it.
