The Shadow for sale,

I've owned the machine for just over 2 years, for which it spent most of that time in Mortal Kocktail (Edinburgh) and more recently Super Bario (Glasgow), so the machine has been on-site and in regular use until I tombstoned it this week for a new arrival and has been pretty much bulletproof in the time I have owned it.

Have added 50 photos below so they will describe the condition better than I can. I would say for a 30 year old game it is in generally very good cosmetic condition. I've given the accessible parts a clean with Mill Wax before taking the photos.

As you will see from the images a couple of small decorative playfield parts are missing, I am pretty sure I have one of the small figures somewhere as well as the snapped part of the phurba/dagger.

Its fully working, the only thing that probably needs slightly fettling are the 2 diverters which sometimes take 2 presses of the button to switch sides.

Delivery options are either collect yourself, I have a Hadfields account (they generally charge around the £120 mark) so I can set this up for you, or use your own courier as long as they are relatively quick to collect as I don't have the space for it.

Currently located in Glasgow

Asking £3,700. Price drop now £3,000.

Would prefer a sale but as for trades try me if you are moving something. Cash can go either way on top.

I haven't sold on the forums before but have bought various machines here. Also most of the Scottish League members have met me in person.

Thanks

Blimey. If I still had my lockup I’d be buy-crazy in this market. Dr Who 3200? Gofers 3500? Now a Shadow for 3150. Secret laugh mode is turned off.

If anyone in London can give me free storage then as an over-55 I will cash in part of my pension and stockpile these beauties.

Sorry. Drinking again.

If you think 3 grand for a gophers is good, you need to put down the sauce.

Well (consults records) I bought my last NGG in 2014 from Craig @roadshow16 for £2500, and sold it to Oli @Alpha1 in 2018 for £3000, so yes I most definitely do think that. It’s nearly 2025 mate. I know prices have been on a weird shaped graph recently but that is a Pat Lawlor WPC95 game made in small numbers, so 6 years later I’d be surprised if the price had gone anywhere but up.

Would love to hear others’ true records of prices. I have all mine in an excel file, there’s about 85 machines in the list now.

I keep a record of all my buys/sales too.
Sold my No Good Gofers in 2017 for £2500.
Sold my Shadow in 2016 for £1800 including colour dmd.
Never owned a Doctor Who but would assume it's worth less than the other two.

As people continue to pay too much it becomes normalised to the point "that's a fair price". Then expect to sell for similar. A case in point was the guy that bought from HLD, paid 2X what he could then sell it for. NGG has always been a "B" title.

Interesting to note that No Good Gofers is newer than Attack From Mars and Medieval Madness, when's the remake coming?

Agree it's a b-lister, but it is rarer than MM, so even though a far inferior game it's still good fun and holds value, although a long way off what MM's are worth.

Bought Dr Who in march 2019 for 1300 sold in December on eBay for 1900( I was fed up of low ball offers and listed it with offers expecting 1700) remember a non working selling for 2300 in early 2021

My machine file includes prices bought and sold but won't be made public until I'm 6 ft below.

NGG maybe wpc95 but it sits value wise with jonny m and junkyard in the 2k to 3k zone .

i can appreciate that Steve, i probably shouldn't have named names as some people may not want others to know what they paid. apologies to Craig and Oli but i doubt they're the sort to worry about that which is why i like them.

you and Phil both may like the idea of NGG and JM being in the 2K to 3K zone, but good luck finding those and let me know if you do. the supply and demand decide what a game is 'worth'.

i quite like the idea of anonymised records of sales over the years.
@Paul what say you?

I feel another train wreck meme coming, sorry to the OP only just realised this is a for sale thread, oops.

I really don't understand this hobby's obsession with price. Buy it, play it and maybe get your money back??? That's mental for any hobby. Normally it's almost a dead loss on what you have spent.

Feck me.....try racing Motocross bikes, cars or gearbox karts!

Why even bother keeping records unless you are a trader? If you like a machine at a certain price then buy it and enjoy it......life's too short. If you don't like it(or the price) then pass it by. But all this analysis just makes me laugh.

Good luck selling your game OP.....I'm sure some one can buy it.....play it for years and maybe loose a few hundred quid. Cheap fun that is compared to many other hobbies.

I only keep records for nostalgic reasons, not to analyse prices, the market’s changing all the time so the historic prices are irrelevant to today’s prices anyway.

Any one buying a game from HLD is in for a shock when they come to sell it sadly :(

They have fantastic marketing and brand name and “warranty” which sucks people in. But your gonna take a 50% hit when moving it on.
