This is an idea I've had for a while now.

A team of players from one club, travelling to another to take part in a friendly competition.

The first (and hopefully not last) of these matches will take place on May 7th @ Electric Circus in Nuneaton. A local team of players will compete against another travelling up from Pinball Republic London.

To make a weekend of the trip (not just an excuse to have a drink and stay over ;)), there is a Rush launch party planned on the Sunday (lots of prizes courtesy of Stern) and also an Open Match Play Competition as well.

Any interested players to contact either @steve brum (Electric Circus) or myself (Pinball Republic)

How will the ICC work I hear you say?

The emphasis of this competition is very much about the social aspect whilst helping to promote the venues involved through friendly competition. Electric Circus will be open to all on the day and visitors will still be able to enjoy the games (including Rush and many more) on the Saturday. Sunday will see 2 IFPA competitions take place with registration open to all (details to be announced soon)

I ENCOURAGE ANY CLUB OR VENUE TO GET IN TOUCH IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE

Fantastic idea mate - Sounds like a ton of fun. Shame I can't make it that weekend but I'm sure it will be enjoyed by all!

I will certainly be supporting the local guys and girls - with montage worthy training and hype sessions in the upcoming weeks leading up to our battle with our frenemies from down South.

Great idea Matt, we'd been discussing the same at SWL a month or two ago!

Unfortunately we have a league meet in South West that Sunday, so unless we can move dates, we won't be abe to have a team from Special When Lit.

I might have misunderstood, as reading back it looks like this is just Electric Circus vs Pinball Republic. So hopefully SWL can get involved another time.

The Rush launch party and ICC matchplay comps are both IFPA registered events on Sunday 8th.

Mr & Mrs Average will be there! 😉 Hopefully an above average performance 😂

You can only represent one club/venue. Also I'm sure the venue's will want to include their loyal regulars.

Looking forward to this! The last split flipper tournament I took part in we both reached the finals!! Can that feat be repeated?

This time I take it’s part of the tournament right?

I have a twin room booked at the abbey grange would anyone like to share?

So, guys...

The matchplay competition on Sunday will be a 4 strikes tournament. Register near the bar before we begin. Will be 4 player groups - bottom 2 players in a group (1 in groups of 3) get a strike. You're out after 4 strikes. Last one standing wins.

I'm sure you have a lot of questions. Here are the answers...

Q I'm not representing either club in the ICC - can I play anyway?
A Of course you can - everyone is welcome

Q What time does it start?
A It starts at 11am

Q I might get knocked out early, won't I get bored?
A Not to worry - there will be some sort of Rush launch party competition happening as well. I don't know the details - but am sure @steve brum will clue you up?

Q How much does it cost?
A No charge to enter the comp, but the games will be on 50p per play. You are responsible for paying.

Q Wait, I forgot. Can I do just this tournament if I'm not in the ICC?
A Yes, absolutely! I literally just said you can!

Q Will there be trophies for the top three, the best three ladies and the best two juniors?
A Even better! There will trophies for the top three, the best three ladies and the best three juniors!

Q I have matchplay on my phone. Can I follow the groups and suggest my results?
A You certainly can. The link is https://matchplay.events/live/jgnzn.

Q That sounds cool, but I don't have a matchplay account?
A No problem - go to the same website, and hit sign up in the top right corner.

Q I won a trophy at @Neil McRae's event a couple of weeks back. Could you bring it up for me?
A Sure! We have a good idea of who's at Electric Circus regularly, but otherwise, let us know, and we'll deliver.

Q I'm coming up on the Saturday before. Will anyone be going for a curry?
A Have a chat with some people in the pinball room. A curry will be happening.

Q What even is this pinball thing anyway?
A Try to stop the ball going down the middle. Do it better than everyone else, and you have won.

A Club vs Club Chamions League would be great, but would strech out at least a year I would think.! Home & away games, love it!!

Also look up the local social club near there for after curry / all nighter, sometimes they have Northern Soul stuff going on, some good characters there last time .
