The "How much is this table worth" thread....

All I have tried to do is call out some behaviour and try to get them to explain it further. It just so happens this has been towards Neil because he shares his view the most. 2 threads, over 2 weeks with a hand full of posts.
It has led to others sharing their view on both sides. Let’s talks about that rather than set up divides and maybe we can fix these flair ups long term.

I really feel for you.

Must be how primary school teachers feel.

can recommend this book to everyone:

it’s only Pinball
I have that book. It's awesome!

Best tell @Calimori that as well then

Someone asked a question and @Neil McRae answered and he was set upon

But one thing is for sure a lot of people came and supported him, he's done a fair lot more for pinball and events in the UK then most people...

If it wasn't for people like @Neil McRae and @Wayne J there wouldn't be many events and socialising going on.

Doesn't matter is someone is longstanding or not, doesn't mean squat apart from the bias the mods show them

If people haven't figured out @Neil McRae sense of banter now beats me, its pretty clear its not done in a malice manner... Just old school banter like @AllstarDK pointed out.

Geoff is doing a sterling job. Rather than just letting things fester, he is all for getting issues out in the open and people airing their views and opinions. Exactly as it should be.

I havent really met Neil "in the flesh" so to speak, however his opinion, however radical people may deem it to be, is his view or opinion. Simple as. And yes, it will provike a reaction... as thats how he likes it.

If you think that the Moderation is biased here then may i suggest you try some of the other FB groups and forums, since this one is about as tolerant and open as you are likely to get.
As per the T&C's -

In the area of enforcement of the rules, the Pinballinfo Team are judge, jury, and executioner. Their decisions are not open for debate, and this is not a democracy. The moderators/admins are NOT to be mocked, ridiculed, called out on or questioned in the public discussion forums. Our moderation (in general) is NOT up for public discussion or to be questioned either. If you have issues with any member of the Pinballinfo Team, take it up in an email or PM

Christ on a bike. It's like walking into a bar fight!
As I said on the last **** storm - people need to lighten up a bit. It's just pinball.

Blaming Neil for long standing members leaving is hardly fair either. One got divorced and had to sell all his machines. Another just lost interest in the hobby over time....as people do.

Some of the comments on this thread are appalling. If you don't like Neil just ignore him. Driving people off the forum with comments like "this place was better before you came along" is very uncalled for. I hope Neil does stick around as I enjoy his banter. That doesn't mean I agree with a single thing he ever says :)

Agreed, great book!

I’m not going to get involved in whatever is going on here as it all seems to have been blown wildly out of proportion and I don’t think my opinion is going to add anything that hasn’t already been said, but surely we’ve all noticed a pattern of this sort of thing kicking off on Saturday evenings?

I don’t think there’s a forum plugin available that requires a breathalyser reading before you can post, but perhaps we could all just try to take a step back and think twice before posting after a few beers? Not saying that this applies to everyone and that all posts made after 6pm on a Sat are booze fuelled, but there is a pattern emerging here so it couldn’t hurt to try.

How does anyone decide what a games value is? Personal opinion, we're all allowed them. What I hate seeing is games for sale that I consider overpriced to then have comments of "GREAT PRICE" in the thread, when I consider it not to be. I just don't comment though nor do I overreach with the tools available to me.

this is spot on, in my opinion

FWIW.
I love* all my pinball brothers and sisters. (*the type of love I am referring to, if you are in to Ancient Greek is agape love not Eros, thought I’d clear that up.......😎).
When I meet a fellow pinhead/forum member in person, I always try to be friendly and warm, at least a handshake and a quick chat, even a cuddle if they have recently washed.
The secret here is to be swift about hearing and slow about speaking. Try not to be to sensitive. Give some consideration to the individual member, what pressures are they under, what do I really know about this person? Etc.
(Avoiding commenting whilst under the influence of alcohol also helps😆).
Agree, it is only Pinball, but pinball by design gets deep into the psyche. Emotional links to certain games and time periods, due to human nature are unavoidable. Everyone’s opinions have value. Some can even lead to opening one’s mind. Just my own opinions.
Take care everyone. Keef.........

Damn, what did I miss last night?
@Neil McRae
We all love him really 😀

The way to fix it is to not to deliberately try and push peoples buttons. Even more so if you're a moderator or admin of a forum.

There's no reason to actively and deliberately be confrontational, by all means do it to people you know as it will be tongue in cheek. To do it to people you do not know, and constantly just makes people think you're a twat.

Maybe update your rules. As if the admin or moderators cannot be confronted for the things they say, when one of you deliberately goes out of their way to rile up members, is a pretty damn poor state of affairs.

And as for the comments about doing this for pinball, that's fantastic to hear, however the people that have left are most of the South Coast Slam organisers.

Just be nice, and if you have a personality that's a bit of a prat, then just try and unleash it on the people you know so it is just that, banter and tongue in cheek-ness to the people you know.

No-one has deliberately gone out of their way to rile up members. We have someone here that has actually looked to do something constructive and ask questions and make discussion based upon people thoughts and views. Nothing to do with Riling.

however the people that have left are most of the South Coast Slam organisers.

And your point is??

1. He's made comments to inflame people. Your other moderator has had to step in to ask for clarification on the comments because he has quite rightly observed the issue and come to the same conclusion.

2. That they've done just as much or probably ten times more for pinball and charity than he has.

I appreciate you run this place but I think maybe you should have a quiet word in the private moderator areas of this forum, as that what I would be doing as an administrator if this was occurring on ukvac.

There are plenty of folk who do a lot for UK pinball. To name but a few .....

The pinballinfo team

The professionals - Phil, Chris B, Andy N ...

Anyone that has hosted a league meeting at their home

Anyone administrating or supporting pinball events

Anyone that has arranged or assisted with an event like NERG, Northern Lights ...

Anyone who has taken a game to a show

Anyone that has hosted a UKCS meeting at their home

Anyone that has offered assistance or technical support to a brother on here

Anyone who has offered parts to a brother on here

Doing a lot for UK pinball is not the issue. The issue is deliberate inflammation and the consequent loss of current and prospective members of our community

Gary Glitter made successful pop songs. Harvey Weinstein made successful films. What is on the asset side of the balance sheet is only part of the story, don't forget the liabilities ...

You may be on UKVAC, however you arent here, and thats the point. And what I/We do as moderators of this forum has, quite frankly, nothing to do with you - Unless it directly affects you of course.
I'm sure that i am right in saying people are sick with the continual flare-ups on here... and that hasnt all been cause by one or two individuals.
As i have said on multiple occasions here, we are very relaxed in our moderation style. The T&C's arent changing - they are perfectly good as they are.

Comments that are made to incite discussions are one thing. Someones opinion is another. Both can be valid. Thats what a forum is all about - being able to have an opinion and (Within reason) say it. Much like i havent deleted or edited yours - you are allowed one too. A lot of people's thoughts on here are THEIR opinions. Wether you like them or not is your call - thats what the ignore button is for. Some may say that you are in contrevention to the T&C's now, however all should have a view. Want to continue? Please feel free to drop me a PM and discuss this outside the forum. Dont like it? You have the right to head off into the sunset should you wish to do so. Continue on this same path, and feel free to see where it leads...

Of course, you have nothing to do with the SCS crew
As it happens, i respect and have utmost time for the guys - ALL of them. We have all separately chatted behind the scenes about this...yes ALL of us, so dont be thinking that what you have seen here is the be all and end all of it as it's not.

The point is that supporting the UK pinball scene is not a panacea for creating a cloud of chaos.

Plenty of civilised, pleasant, community minded folk support the UK pinball scene.
Christ. I thought we were going to have #neilhurtmyfeelingstoo movement for a moment there
