Gone to Ebay The addams family Bally £7600

I'd say the question is, if you actually owned a taf how much would you be selling it for !

I wouldn't normally comment on prices on a sale thread, but seeing as you asked...

I sold a TAF about a year ago for £6500 - I doubt prices have gone up since then. It was fully working (and had no credit dot), had it's topper and was in at least as good condition as this one, if not better.

Thanks. I was overestimating the price TAF goes for. It's possible there is a monstrous regiment of unsold TAFs out there - waiting for the 'right' nostalgia buyer.

6500 is probably the price for a working standard TAF. Maybe 6000 next week.

I think people are more disturbed by the clear profiteering flip from the starting point of a (albeit high) reasonable price.

I'm no Mystic Meg, but I think I can say with some confidence that it won't be long before the site's admins' patience runs out with that principle.. site admins

I think if site admins read some of the things said on this post it's not me that should be worried 🤔

??? You asked a direct question about the value of a TAF. Being one of the few people to have sold a TAF recently, I answered it as honestly as I could.

Can't see your issue with my post, but sorry if it upset you and good luck with your sale

I understand paul I wasn't talking about you, I ment in general, the price of the taf is what someone paid vs what they are willing to sell for.

Yes, but it wasn't selling on here.

Generally, if someone wants to sell something and it's not selling, then they often appreciate advice on what a more realistic price might be :)

Anyway, I see you've taken it to eBay...

He hasn't broken any forum rules though so no grounds to ban him?

It's an open forum, people have voiced their opinions on the price so if anyone does over pay then they can't say they haven't been warned.

He's free to advertise it for whatever price he wants, and everyone else is free to say they think it's overpriced.

I've never seen a TAF go for less than £6k, but I can definitely see a complete wreck (broken cab, completely planked playfield with a mess from the magnet, completely broken parts, rusting, filthy, had been stored in a barn) commanding that sort of price.

Probably last time sub 6 on the open market was early 2020.

I sold mine in May 2020 for 5k. Owned for a decade ,solid game tidy enough with a few small areas of usual playfield wear. No CDMD or anything fancy.

Shortly after that as we know demand and prices soared. Even TAF though is calming now.

Sold my TAF in 2015 for £2750. Was planning to buy a nicer one for 4-5k but prices went up so quick after that I missed the boat! Can’t ever imagine paying more than 5k for a 30 year old plus pin.

Maybe TAF prices will eventually come back down to sub 5k levels, then i’d be tempted to get another.

Best case is that CGC remake it and the prices on the wrecked original TAFs tank to £1-2k

The TAF prices, from what I can see, are being driven by people buying their first pin who remember playing TAF because there were a lot around.

That hasn't happened with the original MM :( They're still like gold dust (as are the remakes!)

They dint make as many MM as they did TAF though which makes them still very rare.

Most MM's are in decent nick as they hardly got used on site, whereas most TAF's are battered from likely being the most sited pin ever!

Times are changing. All used pin prices will come down with time. We are at the tipping point now I’d say - aging demographic that makes up the bulk of the buyers over the next decade will be selling up / dying off . Simple supply and demand would suggest prices go only one way. Certain A list titles *might* buck that trend in the medium term.
Nowhere near enough young blood coming in to pick up the slack. They need not only the interest but space and money
The retro / vintage / barcade bubble will also run its course.
At some point all pins become just old collectables with a diminishing number of collectors.

There endeth Sgt GrizZ slightly gloomy Sunday sermon 😃 I’m off to the pub 👍

Oh, not this again

@Sgt GrizZ, you should come to a tournament, if you haven't already :) Most of the world's top players are under 25. Loads of us older folks (i.e. in their 40s) too.

The retro/vintage/barcade 'thang' isn't a 'bubble'. It's us 'younger' folks wanting to play games socially, face-to-face and offline :)

Get out and play! :)

Youngsters playing yes, but how many are buying pins and have a large home collection, not many in the UK.

Dying off, how old are you lot? 😉

Will probably happen eventually, but those around in pubs back in 92 when Addams came out are only in there 50s and old people aren't as old as they used to be.

Wonder if todays younger people will get bored of working, learning, playing and socialising online and look for more real world things to try?

Yes, but it's only older people who've ever been able to *afford* home pins (and the space for them).

Most people who now own home collections enjoyed pins on location in their teens/early 20s - they didn't get into playing pinball by rushing out and buying a Stern LE :)

This isn’t true at all.

I bought a TAF and STTNG in my early 20s for under a grand each, precisely because they WERE cheap. The market WAS dead because pinball went out of fashion and became too expensive to site.

BTW they still felt expensive at the time!

Okay, so it's a win both ways.

Either pinball remains popular (and expensive) with lots of pins on site (in the USA) and some barcades/retro/vintage venues over on our side of the pond. Or they go out of fashion, and are bought up by skint 20-somethings :)
