Hi,
I previously posted a thread for some help with a left flipper hold problem. It was identified by members that the wrong coil was fitted, it appeared to be a Data east coil.

This evening I have replaced the coil for a correct Williams one, after a rookie error of putting the wires on the wrong way round, Doh! I was going by my pictures, but some members kindly ponited out the error.

However even after replacing the coil the flipper will not hold. However it is now not double tapping, so a 50% improvement!

New Coil, diods might have been damaged from the wrong way round wires.

I previously swapped the Flipper opto boards from left to right, same problem occured.

When I first got the machine it did hold, lasted maybe twenty plays.

So I worked out how to do a switch edge Test.

When I press the left flipper button the flip switch flutters, and goes off sometimes all together, when I press the right button it holds correctly.

Would this be the left flipper opto board?

Right flipper button held down, three switches are lit

There is four lit there, two flipper optos and two end of stroke switches (EOS) representing upper and lower flippers.

left flipper held down only botton light lit

One flipper opto working, the EOS for that is missing. There is no upper flipper, however the left spinner occupies the EOS slot and if you manually spin the spinner it should register.

You can manually lift the left flipper to see if the EOS registers.

In your picture below, red is the electrical switch connections and yellow is the switch itself. When the flipper is operated the left blade should hit the right blade of the switch (inside the yellow circle). You can check the switch with continuity testing by putting the leads on the switch lugs in the red circle. Once you've confirmed that is working, then you will need to check out the fliptronic connections inside the back box.

Hi, So got a little confussed. The EOS switch which way round should the wires be. The two orange ones should they be on the nearest to the coil side, the long part of the EOS swith or the right side furthest away form the coil. On the right flipper the two orrange wires are closest to the coil, on the left flipper they where the furthest away. I Thought I had wired it incorrectly again and swapped them round.

Before I desolder, which way around should they be?PXL_20201107_142205610.jpg

Currently left fliipper is closest to coil. It was the other way and in confusion changed it to match the right flipper.

It doesnt matter - its only a bare switch, there is no diode or anything else on that switch.
Whew, thanks!

Rookie mistake yet again! still the soldering alot better on the change over so one postiive thing!

So, I have a new problem, I changed the upper right flipper, making sure to get the wires around the correct way.

Run a flipper test, everything is working correctly.

However when you start the game, the left and right cannons continually fire, launch trigger doesn't work. Help please!

I begining to hate this machine :)

I think none of the optos are currentlynot working. on another forum I discovered this;

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/star-trek-next-generation-cannons-keep-firing-sttng

Nevermind, got it!
After dinner went back and worked on it a bit more. Discovered cannon optos weren't working either, so tried the others; no optos registering throughout the machine, so checked opto board and discovered LED1 was out. Checked 12V to see if the board was getting power. Fuse was fine, reseated power cables, but noticed that the ColorDMD splitter that sits between the switches and the power board (I believe J118) was a bit loose. Reseated and everything works!

However I tried doesn't fix anything.

Any one have any ideas?
