Was Tron Legacy a flop though? Took $400m at the box office and was the 14th highest grossing film of 2010 (out of 584). The original was less successful yet they took a gamble on the sequel and it made a decent profit.
The film’s budget was $170m though, and reportedly there was another $150m+ on marketing. Even if you conservatively assumed it made $80m, that would be a flop by studio standards.

That $150M number for marketing seems questionable as the average for movies in the last couple of years has only just exceeded that amount.

Tron was Disney’s way to get into the arcades with no presence at all there and a worrying trend at the time with movies; however; if they had known where the arcades were headed they may not have bothered. It amazes me that legacy was made at all given the original went so badly; although I quite enjoyed it even with the ropey story.

You may well be right, I was going on figures reported on a couple of websites (IndieWire and another I've forgotten). I don't think the marketing budget is reported.

I enjoyed Legacy, and I love my Tron LE - mainly because the soundtrack is so awesome and it's a fun pin to play.

I love the Tron Legacy movie too, have watched maybe 5 times ( not often I ever re-watch movies ). I did watch the original recently, don't think I'll ever watch that again though.

4 player games with only one person playing makes my teeth itch..
That's now a thing of the past with recent Sterns.

You can set the max no. of players to anything from 1 to 4.
You can also instantly end any game (returning it to attract) by holding the left flipper and start button.

Gone are the times of having to plunge up to 12 balls when some numpty has pressed start 4 times and then walked away.

Tron legacy is an epic movie ,
my seven Year old boy fricking loves it.
the new Tron coaster is due to be completed in Disney Florida by 2021 . Loads of chatter of a new movie as well . Can’t see them continuing from legacy though which is a shame as the story for the third one sounded pretty interesting.
I would watch legacy over the original every day of the week . If they could release a version without caster in it that would be perfect.
Shame the pin sucks balls 😝

Is the coaster new or just a re-theme of Aerosmith?

That I didn't know!

I know you can reset a B/W game by holding down the Start button on ball 2 on any player.

That starts a new game, (which is still on Sterns) the new code completely ends the game.

There's a setting in the menu as to when it can be done, (Anytime, Free play only, Never). It's in JP, and I assume at least games newer than that.

So the question is, do Stern Vault Tron to tie in with the new coaster?
You could imagine some new Tron Pins dotted around the Theme Park ?

To be honest with you, I very much doubt it. The only pins in WDW are at the hotels, and they are almost without exception poorly maintained to say the least. Disney really don't seem to care about pins in the slightest.

There used to be a Tron LE in the arcade at the exit of Space Mountain in Disneyland out in CA, but I think that's been gone for a few years now at least. There also used to be the best looking Wiliams Indiana Jones I've ever seen in a shop in Adventureland near Indiana Jones Adventure, but when I was there last May it was gone.
