Hopefully they will code the Extra Ball properly this time, not just a random mystery award.

LCD would look great, as long as they recode it so that the score doesn't permanently take up a third of the screen, not a big fan of that on games from this era.

Tron 3 probably more likely than a vault.
I’d agree - more of a Batman66/BTDK type revamp than a straight re-release. New art, sounds, dots/video, cabinet... but likely a very similar layout. And obviously some lit ramp fibres somewhere or Pinside could self-destruct.

And you can't rule out a new film coming at some point. Tron rollercoaster in Magic Kingdom is due to open next year, that's a good sign they still have faith in the theme.

Both Trons flopped at the box office, 30 years apart.

I enjoyed Tron Legacy but mainly because of the aesthetic, Olivia Wilde and the music. The story was essentially nonsense in both films. However, Daft Punk elevated it considerably and their soundtrack sounds amazing, especially when playing the pin, and with uprated speakers.

That said I’m struggling to imagine a significant box office audience out there to make Tron 3 a viable project.

Was Tron Legacy a flop though? Took $400m at the box office and was the 14th highest grossing film of 2010 (out of 584). The original was less successful yet they took a gamble on the sequel and it made a decent profit.
