Stern Venom

The last game I bought was STh. I even skipped Godzilla (appears to have been a mistake 🤣🤣).
The smart thinking would say get Godzilla or Foo Fighters, but they just haven't grabbed me.

Re. Venom Premium I kind of agree, but Premiums take a bigger hit when reselling, at least that's my recollection without going over the data.

I'm unlikely to want the same Pin for longer than a year.

Surely premiums take no more of a hit than anything else, its purely game dependant?

With Venom I think the pros could be the ones that struggle to sell, Stern are reaching with that pro, its missing half the games sales pitch/tagline.

I must admit I am interested in a Venom.

What I will say to any prospective Venom owners is I think you need to pay extra and get the premium.

The changing playfield layout is just too cool.

Agreed, I've watched all the gameplay videos numerous times since reveal.

I’l also come out of the Venom closet. Not a massive fan of the theme but I love fast games, enjoy fan layouts and the more I see of this game the more I can see myself owning a Premium down the line. There’s just something about making a ramp shot and having a ball fired back down towards the flipper when the first ball has barely cleared the top of the ramp.

Just my two cents with venom, it may be brilliant and satisfying to shoot . I think we having to pay upfront it helps me think il just wait till I’ve tried it and they are on our shore . That way no pressure and no buyers remorse , no risk and no fomo of missing out on another title that may be released in between time. One things for sure it’s beautiful but at these prices I think LE’s are out and have always been for me , I’m not buying something unseen so that leaves premiums and pros and they’ll make them for a few years. Il try a venom at Xmas in Orlando then perhaps jump on jaws !

Better value maybe but not necessarily a better game or more enjoyable.

I've had loaded Pins that haven't lasted any longer than less loaded ones. It's a shame they can't have more variable prices based on BOM (outside of the current Pro/Premium/LE models). I realise there are other factors like licensing, and fewer coils/flippers/toys won't make a massive price difference per Pin so debatable how much cheaper they could be. Although there's also Stern's Home Pin models which are a bit too cheaped out.

I can't decide between Pulp Fiction and Venom Pro. I may possibly own both at some point but not sure which to go in on first and which will be easier to get in future.

I think Venom may be more difficult to get. There have clearly been a ton of pre-orders for Pulp.

Venom may well turn out to be a rare game.

Yes, but…

This is the problem. If not many people buy NIB then that’s fewer on the secondary market. If it turns out to be good, supply and demand kicks in and they’ll be both difficult and expensive to get. Happened frequently in the past. Hmmm.

True but pretty quick you’ll know if it’s for you if you find somewhere to try it , phil will still have some then pull the trigger … that’s my thoughts

Other problem is I’d hope the pro scratches the itch , unfortunately I think it may need to be a premium and for me 11k for meh theme is too much … imagine buying this then at Xmas jaws comes out or worse still bttf myself personally I’d be wounded …. I Duno it’s a tough call everyone likes new pins 🤔

Think if jaws came next I’d be ok but if its bttf im totally screwed and selling a kidney

How long will it be before pulps start showing up here? Will it be like CCR and held back so issues can be ironed out.

I think I must be one one of the few people who loves Back to the Future but isn't too fussed about a Pin being released, same for Jaws. People can build it up so much in their mind that it's likely to disappoint if the don't absolutely nail it and get all the major assets.

It will be Back to the Future 3 if JJP get it.

They'll be on the production line this year. CCR were held back for financial reasons rather than production.

Yeah, I'd always fancied a Led Zep but so few were sold.

Surely wont start shipping out PFs until all cc orders are fulfilled. That would be a pretty scummy move and surely turn people off

Also a good watch if you have a spare 1.20hr. Interview with Brian eddy and Dwight at the start and then some gameplay with them. Dwight explaining rules/code along the way.

I’m getting more and more excited about this one.

Anyone know how the Carnage captive ball target physically works, can't say I've seen one like it before? Does it move up 1 step per hit or would a decent hit move it further?

I was thinking if it's the latter, over time would it move further as it loosens up or become stiffer and need a bit of lubricating?

I believe it is variable. I am not sure if it's the weight of the hit or if it moves based on what it wants to move back to the Ravencroft gates.
