Stern price increase.

Ok so best way to show being annoyed about the increase is L not to buy but, all will be sold some will be flipped many will be slightly regretted but all will be enjoyed. I do believe the rich and getting unbelievably wealthy and poor are finding it harder . Money is weird at the moment. I really don’t understand price vs value on many things at the moment.

It’s getting hard to justify buying any new games now. I’m not certain I can think of any theme that I want so badly to pony up the amount of money required.

Oh anything NIB

And they can justify this price increase because materials are up all over the shop. Surprised it’s not more.

In the building trade some things have doubled since last year ,its hard to price a job now ,i used to be able to reel off a price .Now i dont even know a supplier will have it. I think everything is going to go up in price sharply.

Mando sucks you couldn’t ask for more on that title. The price is the price. I don’t think I’ll ever be a nib buyer, lord knows I would like to but what’s the point many new games are kinda not great after the initial glow. Value and price - this is what we need to remember.

Anything not currently in stock at PH is going to go up
As Chris B has said Phil has swallowed the price rises until now.
You also get the 2 year warranty. Stern warranty is 3 months. Electrocoin warranty is when they see the back of your vehicle.

Are all these material price increases Covid related? Won't that start to settle down? Not that I expect Stern will lower the price by $500 when materials become cheaper and easier to source again.

Why would he swallow the price rise? he could have easily sold the pins at the rrp? how much did he save the buyer by swallowing the cost ?

I don’t agree with your last statement at all.

It simply boils down to Supply and Demand.

Stern can't manufacture games quick enough to keep up with the demand - showing that from an economic point of view the games are under priced, so they're raising the price to maximise profit - because that's what businesses do!

I can't believe that other manufacturers, which can sell out their games before they're even built don't raise their prices too.

Yes we'd all like bullet-proof, fully loaded games for the cost of the BOM, but that's not how businesses work.

Also.

Rising container costs for shipping from Stern to uk and even the transport costs for materials to stern….
Electronic Component costs
Copper cables etc
Wood costs
Metal costs

of course things are more expensive. Stern will not swallow price increases.

People might be willing to cough up for a mandalorian etc but sooner or later Stern are going to release another turd. How many people will pay top whack for a wrestlemania or CSI?
would they dare to release another non licensed theme after Black Knight?

Ultimately though we are our own worst enemies. Who can really blame stern for jacking prices up when people literally threw money at guns n roses despite the insane price tag.

Plus chip shortages requiring a massive amount of redevelopment costs in finding alternate parts

Stern make the best games by a country mile and we knew this was coming. That said it sucks because my two NIB games have been quite a stretch financially and not terribly easy to get past the gf. This increase is probably a step too far for me and I'm not sure I'll be able to go NIB again. How I'll continue my Elwin love in I'm not sure. What's irritating to me is people on the continent don't pay the prices we do and never have. Phil's 2 year warranty takes the edge off a little of course

It comes from inflation doesn't it? Since the pandemic the rate at which the USA is printing and giving away stimulus cheques (literally free money to households) has gone a bit bezerk. $4 trillion dollars or there abouts. If every person in the USA suddenly has an extra $1200 in their pocket, then for sure it stimulates people to buy stuff, but that puts pressure on supply, which puts pressure on prices. So the inflation rates are flying up at the moment, despite all the markers that we use to 'measure' inflation being relatively unaffected yet.

Here's the M2 chart for usd in circulation. See if you can spot when the pandemic started and the USD money printers starting going brrr.. Covid has had an insane impact on the global economy. Japan has committed over half of it's GDP back into stimulus, so yeah, things are going to go nuts all over the world for a good while yet

The only saving grace for us is if the £ continues to gain ground on the $. That could, in theory, keep prices the same (ish) for the UK.

At the end of the day though, these are just expensive toys. They are not an essential item like a car or place to live, so It should be taken into perspective.
