I have noticed recently that there has been a spate of discussion around several sensitive topics.
It is worth remembering that not everyone has the same viewpoints/understanding/beliefs, and we should be tolerant of those that have views and beliefs that are different to our own. Not everyone will agree with everyone else - thats a simple fact of life.
With this being a discussion forum, we as admins can usually see the way things are going to go in a thread at an early stage.
I would just ask that people think about what they are posting before they do. This is a very niche hobby, and we all move in rather small circles within it. Some people will get on, others wont.
From a forum perspective, we try to balance our moderation so that it sticks within the T&C's - which sometimes can be difficult. One persons "view" isnt necessarilly someone elses, and that might fall outside of the forum responsabilities.
We have to remember that our view needs to be split accross our members on here vs those in the wider community. We can only look at things which affect people on here - we cannot on things that lie outside.
Whilst it is really helpful that people report posts, it is also worth remembering that these are peoples own views. I think we would all acknowledge that there is no such thing as "free speech" any more (at least not in the UK).
It's a hard job moderating some posts - we have to take personal relationships completely out of the frame, and moderate based on facts that are presented. With a lot of decisions the admins discuss things behind the scenes. We ourselves may not initially agree - however that is the beauty of having three admins - we can discuss and all being well come to a decision between us.
The primary focus of this forum is Pinball, and all things about it. There will always be things linked into it (the "social" side of pinball), but either way we are here for the silver ball!
