Preparing for Tron

Pool filled in with rubble.
Will download latest software and try tomorrow.

Tron Pro ...... Waited so long, 1st impressions, Stern certainly saved money on it, looks cheap, limited toys, no metal ramps, but great sound, too early to comment on the rules. My Spiderman next to it is in a different league!

My Tron is also an import. If i turn it off then back on a bit too quick i get that error message. I was told by a 'very' reputable source that you need to let the power drain from the driver board fully before attempting to switch it back on if it happens all the time.

Also, select 'fast boot' in the service menu if you havent already done so. Mine used to hang on slow boot, then give me the same error.

The playfield artwork is a bit cut and paste but it's a fast game, very challenging with great theme and DP soundtrack to boot. It's my favourite of the seven machines I own and ready to bling it with some blue side mirror blades.

Let us know when you hit Portal. ;)

Thanks to my mate Paul, in lunchtime we have moved RFM, one bloody heavy machine to move, out for fixing to "Spillover" area and given Tron top of the room. Busy lunchtime.jpg

I think layout works better, more space between machines

Close up of Trons new home..... Placed Topper and Recogniser temporary for picture

Nice gamesroom:cool:

Tron has great music, great rules - great game but Stern games don't have same quality as old B/W.

Damn, I want a proper games room now!!! The 'do we really need a spare bedroom' argument failed to get past the wife.....

Lovely games room and I don't blame you binning the pool personally.
Due to todays water meters and current electricity prices many respected agents say they can actually put people off buying a house.
Amazing to think that such a luxury item could potentially de-value a property.

Staying in and entertaining are however the new going out so if the Missus ever complains just tell her the games room (( ahem...sorry....'entertaining room' )) is an investment should you ever sell the house.
Add to that the ever increasing price of old pins...bingo!
Well....that's my line to the wife anyway!
Lol

About the only two mods I haven't got other than the Laser cut armour. Getting Flynn's sign next after seeing Ian's. The Dr Pinball LCD display is when I can justify it to the wife due to new incoming pin.

I tried getting a vid up when I fitted the screen, but photobucket kept taking a dump on me. I will manage it soon but doing it at work is a little tricky. ;)

TRON is such a great pin to mod. Whilst Stern did a good job there's so much scope for improvement and it's an awesome theme/franchise with loads of memorabilia. The original TRON is my all-time favourite movie and I think the sequel, TRON Legacy, was almost as good (especially with sound track by Daft Punk). If I ever find myself with a few thousand knocking about TRON would be the only modern pin I'd buy. I did have a crazy idea to do a classic TRON conversion on something from 1982... maybe a Bally Mr & Mrs Pac-Man with the VID-GRID. The backbox reminds me of a Recognizer...

I came across a thread on Pinside.com from a modder called Hooked On Pinball. He/they've done some custom bumper caps in the style of TRON discs, in either black or chrome. Very tasty!

Just advertised these on another thread as I did a deal with Hooked. Have a couple of black sets left but the chrome have gone. I was actually in two minds whether to fit the black as they have the white highlights on the disk and do look good, but went with the chrome to match the LE trim.
You should also check out his Castor mod which you can see in the background. He has a EL cane and mounted on a custom plastic and comes with an additional spot light. This flashes during certain modes and with the spinner. Really effective MOD.
He does other mods for A lot of new Sterns. He is currently working on new bumper caps for IM and ACDC.
