Thinking of getting my Spiderman metal work done mettalic blue. Noticed a fair few threads discussing powder coating and thought it might be an idea to pool the knowledge.

What colour did you get your game done ?
How much did it cost ?
Where did you get it done ?

Used a local company to do my legs, side rails, lockdown bar and backbox brackets in fire engine red. Think they charged me £60.

Only issue i've had is that the powder on the lockdown bar and side rails makes it a tight fit and it's already started to rub. :-(

Great stuff guys. Post some photos too and what colour they are.

Currently blue (from Roadshow) but planning on doing a Greg and getting them coated JCB yellow. Can't decide whether to do the lock bar as well or leave it silver to match the siderails. What do you think?

Including the side rails (yellow), then pics please.

I've got a Black Rose I'm thinking of getting done but I'm not sure of the colour either black or a deep red.

Come on @robotgreg, how many have you had powder coated? spill the beans :).

OK Kev, here goes!

Started off with B/W getting legs and lockdown bar done and then painted sides and backbox hinges in same colour. Did take side rails off one to be done but hear of drying powder coating warped them so didn't do that again and advise against! All Sterns have done full set ie legs, lockdown bar, side rails and backbox hinges.

Used to get a full set for £40 and legs for £20 but guy went out of business, prob cos too cheap so now costs me around £100 a set!

Couldn't get some colours in powder coat so had spray painted instead.

Ayethangyou! Just took my RS legs and lockdown bar in to Sprayblast (sounds like a cheap porno flick) and they are doing the lot for £50 cash money in "safety yellow" (RAL 1023). I can't be ****d to do the side rails as well as I hate removing the adhesive residual you always get and they are in pretty good shape, plus I don't want them to get warped.

@robotgreg I think you got a pretty good price - these guys can't match it but I am happy with £50.

Normally they do next day service but they don't do yellow very often apparently so I'll get them back and post pix same time next week...

I'd rather risk them becoming warped than leave it with black siderails. The legs and backhox hinge plate doesn't bother me but the rails you really do notice

Am I the only one not that crazy about powder coating? I think sometimes it makes a game look like a Happy Meal Toy :-D

Each to their own.

Personally i think the bally/williams games look better with the stainless. It's a shame to cover it up really. Anything with black painted steal looks much neater with a coating

Can't remember the name of the company unfortunately. CJ's is up towards Humberston. The one I used is down near Tesco off Victoria Street. I think @Davey D has used CJ's before though.

Yeah ive used CJ loads of times for all sorts of bits for Pinball/arcade/car stuff including a few sets of alloy wheels. Got to watch their pricing though as they can be up and down a bit.

Well I got the legs and lockbar back from Sprayblast today - ended up being a 24 hour turnaround.

Here are the before and the gregged up afters:

It's a shame that the cab has faded so that most of the yellow on the decals has gone. But all in all I am very happy with the results - it's a bit bright, but then I knew that when I chose yellow. Will look better I hope when I get the machine out of the kitchen and into the pinball room.

Top marks for Sprayblast in terms of speed and service: they quoted me for the four legs but when I turned up with the lock bar they were happy to throw that in for no extra charge. If anyone near High Wycombe needs to use them, their number is 01494 530854 and you can email them a photo for a quote.
