I'd never played a Goldwings before and I must admit it's the one game at the show that I kept going back to constantly (besides Joker Poker when I was allowed to play it)
I do love those standup target kickers though ( I think most people don't even notice them, they never get mentioned )
I saw the opposite of that; at an arcade in Weston, two young women were playing a Gottlieb machine (it was a Monte Carlo, in fact), 'one flipper each'. The one at the left was okay, but the one at the right thought the initial entry buttons operated the flipper.Even managed to get high score on Monte Carlo, randomly haha. Then couldn't figure out how to add my initials, since the flipper buttons don't move the letters. SOmeone had to tell me it was the buttons on the front
You can get it every ball and more, it's far too commonI got that million skill shot first go at pinfest, ker ching!
Yeah, didn’t seem much skill involved !You can get it every ball and more, it's far too common
That was quite possibly me, i pointed the front buttons out to quite a few high-scorers over the weekend, I will never understand Gottliebs decision to do that and not just use the flipper buttons (its not as if the machine doesn't already have 2 buttons which would be ideal for name entry lol) I'm glad you enjoyed them, it was great to see them being relatively popular during the show, wish I checked the audits beforehand to see how many games got put up on eachAs I mentioned in a post in the main pinfest thread, I absolutely loved the Gottlieb row. i spent a fair chunk of time there over the weekend. Even managed to get high score on Monte carlo, randomly haha. Then couldn;t figure out how to add my initials, since the flipper buttons don;t move the letters. I've played a lot of them in virtual form, but not the real things before. I also love the quirky layouts. As much as I love modern games too, and I do, the layouts were much more varied in this era of games, and that's something I love about older games.
I think this was the first time playing goldwings for me too. What a nutty layout! I love it. It's so weird playing with the main flippers so off centre. it takes some getting used to, because you're used to having the ball drop onto the flippers when it's in a certain position heading in a certain direction, on most games, but this throws all of that right out of the window, and you have to try to readjust your reactions.
TX sector is awesome too. That's a game i've loved virtually in the past, so was great to spend some time playing the real thing too.
Genie is always fun, but i've played that a little before, and wanted to spend a bit more time playing the ones that were new to me.
I do agree that the backglasses are...well, let's be kind and call the 'different' haha. But, it makes them stand out from the crowd a bit too, and it was 40 years ago, times were different.
In the end, when you're playing, you don;t really spend much time looking up there anyway.
But yeah, this was great, I hope I get to play them all again sometime
I just wish there was the opportunity to play games like these a bit more often for me
Huge thanks for allowing me (us) to enjoy them for the weekend!
Thanks for posting these, they both look in lovely shape too!A couple of quick game play vids of Gold Wings and Robowar on a lazy sunday afternoon
Maybe it was to keep your hands as near to the coin slot as possibleThat was quite possibly me, i pointed the front buttons out to quite a few high-scorers over the weekend, I will never understand Gottliebs decision to do that and not just use the flipper buttons (its not as if the machine doesn't already have 2 buttons which would be ideal for name entry lol) I'm glad you enjoyed them, it was great to see them being relatively popular during the show, wish I checked the audits beforehand to see how many games got put up on each
My pleasure, hopefully I'll have more than 5 by next year so can pollute the show room with even more (insert evil laugh) Stargate is one of my all time favourite games, had it at Pinfest 2019 but had to sell it shortly after due to lack of space, a huge regret. I've always found the System 3 Gottliebs to be pretty dependable too. Thanks to those of you who brought the Gottliebs to Pinfest. I really enjoyed seeing and playing so many unusual machines. About 5 years ago I played a Stargate at Pinfest and enjoyed it so much I had to get one. Ive only just moved it on to another forum member. When we had visitors over it was always a very popular machine and totally reliable.

If it’s cheap enough I will bid on it as Bath isnt bad for me even though its 100 milesWho is responsible for encasing a Genesis in this glass tomb for eternity?!
