Pinball LED thoughts and opinions. Helping others see the light.

Thanks mate, I do appreciate it.

The whole thing is so confusing and packed with abbreviated language so thanks for the video.

I think I'll get a comet kit and then add some additional colours in . . . in fact I might just get someone else to do it 😂
Not sure what comets kits are like but cointakers are notorious for adding colour to the GI, search “clown puke LEDs” over on Pinside.

You can’t beat white GI, whether you use cool white, warm white or sunlight is usually dependent on the colour palette of the playfield artwork and plastics.

To be honest with you mate, I can't even tell the difference between GI and anything else. There's big ones and little ones as far as I'm concerned.

It's all a bit complicated for my un-technical brain. I'll give it to Martin at Go-Pinball and ask him to fit some LED's.

Col, sorry for derailing the thread mate, seemed silly to start a new one on the same subject.

GI is general illumination, LEDs under plastics which are there to illuminate the playfield so you can see it (also backbox). They're just there to add illumination

The rest come under inserts which are individually controlled lights that tell you things.

Comet 2 SMD frosted are perfect for everything mate if you want to keep it simple you can’t go wrong with a few handfuls of those.

Wow that's a great example of LEDOCD. 🤩 Hypnotic
Thanks dude, one thing I like about the LED OCD is the control down to the individual lamps, I played around quite a bit to sort of exaggerate the fading and knock down the overall brightness.
Fish tales is terrible but they all are to me without Afterglow.
Put one in The Shadow and much nicer, got rid of the ghosting too.
Dirty Harry also has one, so much better. I only use premium 2 non ghosting fluted LED’s everywhere except the backbox which just has the cheapies in white/warm white.

The Afterglow board does steal some brightness, so make sure you get bright enough leds.
That DH looks sexy!
I do have an Afterglow kicking around, almost tempted to try it with some 2smd's as like you say it was a little too dim with the cheapos, so took it out.

What games it for Gonzo? I'm sure we could work out what you need from the manual, I mean they either fit or they don't and if your replacing a game designed for bulbs they all draw less power, so its not like you can really mess anything up,

if you want to keep things simple I dare say if you just did the whole lot with 2smd comet sunlight's the result would be decent.

I got the STTNG comet kit with LEDOCD from @David retro .
Haven’t installed it yet but watched a guy on YouTube who advised comet on the STTNG kit and he swore by white in the GI.

I did a STTNG with premium 2 fluted warm whites in the GI and it looked amazing, these are between Comet warm white and Sunlight.
Colour matched the inserts with the same alongside Afterglow, sweet as a nut.

You're very kind Kev, thank you.

I have just purchased a TOM and I'm buzzing mate.

I do think I'd go mostly sunlight but I'd like a bit of purple around the edges.

Andy has kindly sent me a picture of his backbox lamps and Davey is sorting me out with some boards.

Nice! Great choice, how about some star post LEDs with purple star posts? Could add some purple highlights without washing out the artwork.

Looking at the manual for TOM they list all the controlled lamps, if my counting is correct it has....

55 555 (wedge)
7 44 (bayonet)
9 89 flasher
5 906 flasher

Annoyingly the manual mentions the various GI strings, but not the quantity of bulbs.

Above and beyond the call of duty mate

Thanks so much

Here's a video of creech with the afterglow GI and afterglow nano.
The fading effects are nonexistent without 🤩. Creech is all comet Sunlights 2SMD. Except the ones on the billboards which are comet Indicator bulbs

And Theatre with only afterglow nano (inserts), can see how the GI doesn't dim, it flickers/strobes. It used to have an afterglow GI in but we put it in creech when TOM was loaned out. Just waiting for Daveys next run as TOM has cool dimming in game, like when you start multiball the lights dim and go out. Same for trapdoor.

You can at least see the inserts looking sexy

Thanks mate, I 100% get it now. Davey also explained but it's nice to se it on the videos so thanks for recording.

Out of interest, do you know whether the lamps under the slingshot are bayonet or wedge please?

Thanks so much everyone for all of your help.

Bulbs have been ordered. Mostly sunlight on the PF but I've gone with Andy's backglass configuration
