Nostalgia and over/underated games (RS, FH, TAF etc)

Just here for the Roadshow love in.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but anyone who disagree's with the fact that Roadshow is the greatest machine ever made.....well, they are wrong and myself @Mfresh and @David_Vi are going to heaven whilst the rest of you blasphemers are going straight to hell.

For my Roadshow geeks out there, a couple of little secrets. 1, the secret target, Lawlor is a genius, I'll say no more. 2. 5x Atlanta for 150M, I'll say no more, unless you want me to!

Please share the Atlanta secret... I might need it this weekend 🤣

My only nostalgia for pins goes like this " I remember playing this back in the day, in Pinball Arcade on my ipad " :D . Pinball didn't exist for me before 2012 when Pinball Arcade dragged me in.

Ok, it's a wonderful little strategy that I only worked out about 10 years after owning the game and I've won on Roadshow in competition because of it.

Atlanta is a 30M hurry up (man trapped in a porta potty) where you need to hit the blast zone to collect. However, if you shoot the mini loop and shoot it off the mini flipper, you double the hurry up to 60M, sweet.

However, if you are a true G and have flying rocks lit on the left ramp, which quite often marries up well with starting Atlanta, shoot that instead of the blast zone. The left plunger is primarily used for going for the extra ball or just banging into Ted's head for 20M. However, in this beautiful scenario, you actually want to do the short plunge to the 5x award then with the mini flipper make the shot to the blast zone for serious points 🙌

Genius!
I knew about the secret standup and using the blast zone loop but to incorporate flying rocks is special 😳

As someone who also has no nostalgia around pinball (I played a little at my uncle's, and had a few pinball PC games but I was never any good and always felt like I must be missing something!) - my favourite pinball machines are currently Creature from the Black Lagoon (aka Drive Thru), Theatre of Magic, Diner, World Cup Soccer (aka Dog ball), Revenge from Mars and Monster Bash.

I guess the main reasons why I like them is based on the themes and the music - although I'm not a football fan, I honestly would never have given WCS a look in if not for the dog mascot! I don't think any of these games are rated as particularly difficult (I'm sure most people consider them to be quite easy games!), but as I'm not the best player that works for me. They just always put a big grin on my face whenever I play them. They have fun call outs that David and I quote to each other ('I'll have the iced tea and a frankfurter'), I love the music (Creature's main tune is my alarm clock) and just all the shots feel fun and super satisfying!

I do hope to buy a Creature, Diner or Dog Ball next! (Revenge from Mars is apparently not allowed in the pinball room with the others... It will have to be hidden away in its own room upstairs!)

It's funny, isn't it?

My husband really likes Creature and we both like Monster Bash. However, I rate both as 'too easy'. This is despite me being an absolutely hopeless pinball player (or, at least, not great. It's hard to say how much of the hopelessness is that I'm usually playing in snatches of time between work phone calls and/or with all the plunging provided by a Pi-Bo Wizard).

One of my favourite pins is TNA and, literally, my ball times are in milliseconds. The first time I played it, I was so angry and frustrated by my inability to do anything at all that I played it constantly for an hour. In contrast, as soon as I start playing something that's remotely doable, I'm like "Hmmm, I wonder how long this game is going to go on for? Agggghhh, the Pi-Bo Wizard has gotten off the small stool. Do I have enough time to complete a really long game of this before I need to go home/make my next phone call/check the location of the Pi-Bo Wizard?"
