I think a patent exists..... Heighway Pinball - we did it years ago on full throttle..... Everyone complained it was too heavy. I can not remember if you lifted it off or if it was hinged. It is a part of my life I try and erase from my memory - like wife no1.thanks dude.
that system is badass and magnificent. if he hasn't patented it then he should, and then he could get very rich selling that as an aftermarket kit. i'd be interested in buying them for all my machines immediately if the price was reasonable - what do people think? how much is a glass pane nowadays, standard and invisi-version? and how much is a lockdown bar and side rails? this would negate the need for any of them, which could be sold on to recover some of the outlay.
if he hasn't patented the idea then i feel sorry for him because i imagine someone will be releasing this commercially in the very near future. i predict massive appeal, it's not like some stupid topper or ridiculous lit-up legs, this is a game changer. it's win-win, for buyers (home and also bars etc) and for sellers, as people will be able to increase their herds by a significant amount.

it even looks like you could partially lift the playfield with the glass raised, say to tighten a flipper. what a bonus. no need to put the glass down anywhere and risk what Paul mentioned:

Also I dont know about you, but when working on pins - I have the backglass out - the lamp board open and the glass off the playfield when fault finding.
Lazy idea for maintenance.
A solution to a problem that does not exist.
I can not see anyone fitting these onto their old machines.
