Hi all,

As per my previous thread, i now have a fairly comprehensive suite of Dumbass (Victors) boards avaialble to purchase.

I am working my way through getting boards available to "ship on the day", however initially these will be available on a 2-3 week lead time. Over time i will build up stock to be able to ship immediately, but until that time it is what it is :)
These boards are as close to the originals as available out there, however improvements have been implemented where known issues may have been idnetified.

Support is naturally Via myself, however if it's something i havent seen before then I will be (Thankfully) calling on Victors knowledge (as the creator of these) to assist where needed. He knows these like the back of his hand, and whilst i have a good working knowledge, you can never know enough!
Historically, I have an OND in Electronics and Computing which was gained around 30 years ago, so am in a position where i can read and "Translate" into practical boards

Admittedly these are not the CHEAPEST on the market. If you want cheap, buy a rottendog board if you can find one (i will say that they have a multitude of known issues and compatability problems though - the only rotten dog board I had was new and didnt work!!).
I would argue though that these are the BEST that are available. Victor has a massive backlog of boards to be built, and this is testament to the esteem people give to his creations.

Boards available :

  • Bally/Williams WPC89 Power Driver
  • Bally/Williams WPC89 Sound (Pre-DCS)
  • Bally/Williams WPC89 Sound (DCS)
  • Bally/Williams WPC89 DMD Driver
  • Bally Williams WPC95 Power Driver
  • Bally Williams WPC95 AV Board
  • Bally Williams WPC95 CPU - Available Inc Processor, NVRam and Eproms for your game (Exc Asic which can be moved from your old board). or Without, the choice is yours!

  • System 11 MPU
  • System 11 A MPU
  • System 11 B MPU
  • System 11 C MPU
  • System 11 MPU one-shot board add-on
  • Bally Williams System 3-11 One Shot board - stand alone (See below)

Every board is new, bespoke and built by hand. They are made with new components (where possible - see below!). Each board is tested in either a real machine, or on a test fixture, or ideally on both if i get the time! So you know it is fully working on arrival.
Boards are supplied with PIA's and Processors (most of these supplied by other companies arent!) - Just add Roms (if a CPU) and away you go - or those can be supplied too!
As well as final testing, Individual components such as PIA's and Processors are all individually tested prior to touching the board to ensure funtionality. As you can appreciate, things like 6821 PIA's and 68B09 Processors along with some of the custom sound chips such as the YM3012 and YM2151 chips found on the sound boards are not produced anymore, hence why these are sourced where possible and tested where possible prior to use. Anything that cannot be tested prior to use will of course be tested as part of the final testing, so you can have confidence that you should get a fully working board out of the box.

With regards to ordering, please drop me a PM (https://www.pinballinfo.com/community/conversations/add) and let me know what you are after. I will be initially operating a "waitlist" for any boards I dont currently have already ready to go (I'm just starting out, so will take a couple of months to get to the stage where things are ready to ship same day).

I am currently "building to order" - which means there may be between 2 and 6 weeks between ordering and delivery - When you enquire i can let you know the approx lead time in advance. This will ultimately depend on how many orders are ahead of you and also availability of parts.

Examples

WPC89 Power Driver Board

Stand Alone One Shot Logic board (Protects your "special solenoids" in System 3-11 games). I predominently supply the modular ones, since they are connected with rj45 cables, keeps things neater!

(see here for a really good explanation on these from Chris Hibbler :
)

Williams System 11 (in this case, System 11B, complete with plugin One Shot board top right) using FET Transistors - Final pic under test in my Big Guns machine.

As an aside from the above, I can now carry out repairs on all original WPC boards - However no CPU please since they are cheap to replace and invariably have Battery Damage.
I can fully test WPC89 boards (be it one or a set) on my test fixture, so if you have a set that you want to be tested prior to installing.
I will buy original WPC boards if you have any for sale at a resonable price - please remember though that the price non-working will be substantially different to that of a working board (i am not interested in working boards at this time).

Any questions, please ask here, or drop me a PM - i will be aiming to get back to everyone within 24 hours (some will say that makes a nice change!) :)

Thanks
Paul

Finished the above a few days ago. Would you believe it, the one thing i forgot to order has held everything up - Fuses!!!

And just put the below together for my "Big Guns" this afternoon :

This display is designed to work on the following games :

Work in progress (Boards in stock, parts en-route) :
System 11 A/B/C Power board
System 11 A/B/C Aux power board

Work to follow once the above are completed:
WPC95 Driver board
WPC95 AV board

Scrolling upwards and seeing the System 11 board fitted, I wondered "What game's that with an interconnect board for the Insert?. Probably Big Guns, it of all games would've had one". And so it is; work didn't have one, on account of its height.

Yeh, the manual spouts on about being a system 11A... however the run was split betweek System 11A and System 11B - generally System11B!! :D
Well and the interconnect board. And the sound...

Any Desire for "pop" Eliminators??

By "pop" i mean the thump you get when the machines is turned on, plus the sometimes clicking noise that follows.

They come as a three board set - Relay board, Power board and Signal board....

  1. WPC-89 pre-DCS Speaker Protection Boards. This one was a little adventure. The issue that is trying to be solved (silenced) is a documented issue. There's a "pop" when you turn the machine on. It is also possible to hear multiple little clicks during software start. These clicks are continual resets of the sound board. The biggest "pop" on my machine is when the power is cut. I got the power on pop silenced but I had to go back and figure out how to get the power off pop silenced. On the third try I got it.

The system is a three board system. One satellite board to intercept the speak signals. Another satellite board to intercept the AC power. The main board that has the relay and handles the intercepted signals. Only two cables are required. I wanted to build the system using this modular approach to allow for DCS boards to be supported as well. Still (officially) a work-in-progress. I'm not sure I'm ready to declare this "final" and ready for consumption. Needs a little more stress testing and exposure.
    1. The two red boards were my first attempt - assuming I would get it right the first time. Arrogance at its finest. Obviously I was wrong. I hacked (cut and jumpered) this board significantly before making a second attempt. I changed the signal interception methods which is why the second attempt is vastly different.
    2. The top green (bare) board was the second attempt. It includes the use of an AC photocoupler but doesn't quite work properly. The other two satellite boards work properly so they remain the same.
    3. The center and lower relay board are the third attempt. It changes the AC photocoupler circuit and how the relay is energized. With a 100uF capacitor the delay is about one second at power on. I'm going to experiment a little more to see if I can make the delay a little longeboards_161.jpg
    4. This the third (current) system as connected.
    boards_162.jpg
    And in the machine.

Available for WPC89 and WPC95. Price i'm guessing at around £60-ish for the set (confirmation of price when i get a BOM from Victor :) )

Yes please 🙏

I have a couple for WPC89 and a couple for WPC95 on the way - only because when i initially asked no-one jumped at it :)

Will confirm when they are in the UK.
Don't know how I missed the announcement, been researching pop eliminating for ages weighing up the options. These will be perfect 😍

System 11 (A/B/C) Boards currently on hold due to testing issues. Availability will be back in a few weeks (hopefully!).

New boards on the way in the next 1/2 days from the USA...

Are there any updates on the system 11 @Paul ?
Finally managed to get all parts needed for the build... Will be starting next week after i have managed to "clear the decks" so to speak!!
I currently have a text fixture set up - just wiring, testing and installing the setup when built

Sorry it's been delayed.. Hoping to have it all up and running at some point in November :)

Just building one now as a trial.. not too much to them... should be done by tomorrow/Wed. Then just need to get the cabling sorted and will set it set up on my test rig (WPC89).
Will take a video without and with, and a price to go with them.

I have two of each on hand (but will need to order parts - roughly a week leadtime)... however if there's a push for it happy to order a bunch more boards from Victor....
