New pinball clock

Excellent:clap:

Is the whole thing on a 5 min loop?

Really can't see Anna letting me have this in the living room though.

I now have a yearning to do the same thing with the DMD Extender running in reverse :confused:

Here is the post

Hi everyone,

tqln (Torbjörn), the Run-DMD maker, has decided to do an Arcade Otaku-batch because it seems there's enough demand for it, so here's a little information about the project and also an instruction of how the ordering process will work out. Please note that this is a hobby project, and it's hard for Torbjörn do support and warrantys as he does not make this for profit. He's a very friendly guy and he will probably make everything possible to help out if something is not working, but just so you know!

What's Run-DMD?
Run-DMD is a custom PCB made by a guy in Sweden named Torbjörn. Run-DMD is capable of running animations from all kinds of pinball machines, and right now there's 374 animations from both Stern and Bally/Williams games. If and when Torbjörn releases more animations you can download an SD-image with the new content and upgrade your Run-DMD.

Here's a video I recorded just when I got it with the mail:
Here's a video that tqln recorded:

Run-DMD can also be set to show a clock in the background, and it's also (soon) possible to switch between 12h/24h time.

What's included?
In the AO-batch, everything is included to get it running. So just plug everything in and enjoy your Run-DMD. You will probably need to make some kind of frame for it, but that's up to you! forum.arcadeotaku.com_images_smilies_icon_pubjoe_smile.gif

* Run-DMD PCB (will be red in the new batches instead of green)
* Two red (a little orange looking) HUB08 DMD:s (totally 61x15cm total) complete with power and data cables.
* 5V 8A PSU
* CR2032 battery
* Power cable (choose between UK/EU cable)
* SD-card with the latest software/animations.
= Probably the most awesome clock ever released! forum.arcadeotaku.com_images_smilies_icon_pubjoe_awe.gif

All payments has now been completed, thank you guys for sending your payments so fast!

I'll keep you guys updated if the shipping date moves in any way, but right now Torbjörn is aiming to ship the DMD:s on the 10-12th of january!

For everyone that's interested in a Run-DMD but could not make it to this batch:
Hopefully there will be a new Arcade Otaku batch late in january or in the beginning of february. Check this thread for the latest news regarding that! forum.arcadeotaku.com_images_smilies_icon_pubjoe_cool.gif

Pahh.... :(

Paul,

I am sure if enough people show interest another run could be made

To be fair I initially looked and thought the price a little high... then looked again and realised it included the HUB08's so was essentially a complete "kit" and just needed bezeling/boxing ... :)

I tried to show interest by posting on the thread, but when I log into the forum it says I dont have permission to read the thread... So I can read it not logged in but not when ive logged in.:confused:

Think we need a pinballinfo batch made...

So - Seriously - How many people are seriously interested - i think they are £150 a pop delivered.... display included - you just need to find a Bezel and associated mounting paraphernalia... comes with PSU etc....

Do we have 10 people that really want one?

I would be interested in one. Did I see on the thread they were making bezels as well?

No promises...but I've been thinking about this. It's possible to scrape the animations from the game ROMs using WPCEdit and PinballBrowser. I could offer an HDMI LCD or LED DMD output. Might be good to have time / date / choice of fonts / analog clock etc, etc...

However, I have 2 priorities to complete first... Finishing the electronic scoreboard for my daughter's cricket club and redesigning the DMD Extender board to accept the new Raspberry Pi + models.

a cut-down version of the DMDExtender (no input required!).... bit of coding on the PI, piece of cake for a man of your calibur :)

Oh and to be able to output to a large cheap display provided (not a DMD as they are too pricey...)...

Around Sunday long enough ;)

£150 each... make a killing ;)

Oh and Delivery by Christmas would be fine :D

Indeed, this is mostly a software solution, although the Pi has no real time clock on board so a PCB would be needed to add the necessary components.

+1 Dr.Pinball solution. Don't want to be a killjoy but surely the likes of Stern and Planetary would soon be sticking their oars in?

Stern will have to pay the same ammount Kevlar, infact coz they are in the US, lets make em pay more :clap::clap::clap: oh and no warranty for them either, and they have to put a deposit down, and we will make sure the software for their clock is incomplete, and then we will release a LTD edition :D:D:D:D,
:rofl:
I am sure they wont want a clock, thoug, could be usefull for the full throttle guys

This did cross my mind - Planetary are particularly aggressive in this regard!
