New members - say hello right here : )

Hi there folks another newbie here. I’m based north of the wall near Edinburgh. Ive been looking at pins for a while now and thanks to a garage conversion finally have the space for one. (Yes Just one!)
Ideally I would like a family friendly pin (I have two boys) Pirates of the Caribbean, Simpson’s, family guy etc but there really isn’t a lot of opportunity to try them out where I am. Any recommendations?
Also I wonder how I would get it delivered here? I see a lot of adverts are south coast do you regular sellers have specialist couriers you use? Cheers in advance 👍🏻

Welcome mate.

There are far more qualified people than me to recommend a suitable pin but delivery is generally done by a chap called Martin. He's known to the community and will collect your machine from whoever you buy from and deliver it to you for £80-90 I believe.

Thanks for that, does he deliver up to Scotland as well do you know? I noticed his name mentioned on quite a few posts!

Hi Everyone, new to the forum and looking to buy my 1st pinball machine.
I am based in Horsham, West Sussex so took a trip to Flip Out London 3 weeks ago to try a few pins out with my 15 and 13 year old children.
Met Mike Kindler who showed me around several tables and how to play them, who knew you just don't hit the buttons and hope.......
After playing several we all agreed that TAF was a great pin, and having since played on Pinball Arcade and FX3 on my pc to get a feel of several other tables my children still like TAF the most. Would have liked to return to Flip Out but family duties on weekends make it tricky.
Mike pointed me in the direction of the one that is for sale on the forum at the moment so I have just messaged the seller.
Anyway thought I would say hi and hope to join the ranks of being an owner soon.

Regards
Christian

Welcome to the forum @Quo007, what a great start finding a TAF for sale at that price. Now you can look forward to a house full of pins cos you will find it hard to stop at just the one.

Hi,

Martin comes up to Scotland roughly every 2 months. He was last at mine 2 weeks ago so likely another 6 weeks before hes back up. He stores the pins at his until he has enough of a van load to make it viable. Martin charges a little more for Scotland runs though so factor in and extra 20 quid or so. Generally he covers the central belt of Scotland and will also occasionally go up as far as Dundee but typically wont go any further north, but as you’re in Edinburgh then he definitely covers there.

There are various places in Glasgow with pins that you can play but I don’t know many in Edinburgh. Scottish Pinball meets are great - real friendly bunch - definitely worth popping along to the Edinburgh meet at the mousetrap on leith walk.

Just watch out when buying TAF, for some insane reason they command high prices and are often completely hammered. Surprised that was the outcome given so many other better games at Flipout.

Howdy Mate. I'm just along the road from you in Kirkcaldy.
Martin will deliver to you as he has been to me. It is always handy getting him to do your first pin as they can be quite daunting if you buy it from a non pin guy on ebay. Especially if you don't have a dolly or that.

There's not a great deal of pin action near us. Kinghorn has a pin in Pettycur Bay but it is in a sorry state. Its a Metallica. Dundee has a few in a pub.

You should have a look out for machines from a few guys like John beveridge and J.CRox. Both are in Scotland and look after their machines so would be good guys to buy from if they have any for sale soon.

Cheers
Mark

Hi there!

I am Xianek and I am from Warsaw, Poland. I use the same name on other forums and websites. My background is in software development, programming, embedded systems, raster and vector graphics design, video montage, sound and music making through the use of synthesizers, and in electronics. My hobbies include travel, retro computers, arcade, and of course pinball. I own 22 pinball machines as of the time of writing this. The list is on my website: xianek.eu. I thought I'd say "HI" before I post anything. Greetings from Poland and I'll talk to you soon!

Hey guys, have spent some time browsing the forum, so thought it was about time I got signed up. Seems like you have a really nice community here, and I have been heartened by the very active pinball machine selling forum where it seems like you guys really care for the machines and trade and sell at very reasonable prices compared to what I've been seeing on ebay, gumtree et al.

My names Euan, I'm from Glasgow, recently got back into pinball after an epiphany over how much fun I had as a kid in the early 90s when there were machines coming through my local tennis/hockey/squash club - The Addams Family, T2, Gilligans Island, Last Action Hero and Demolition Man are the ones I remember playing the most !Have also recently been trying to get around the various locations in Glasgow and play whatever machines are on offer. Hopefully, maybe, at some point this year I'll be able to buy something when I move into a new house. Looking forward to learning a lot more about all things pinball related from everyone here !

welcome.gif to Pinball Info @EuanW22 .
Get yourself signed up to the Scotish Pinball League, plenty of pinball action around the Glasgow area.
I'm sure @ailsaclunie will be able to give you more info on the Scotish Pinball scene.

Ive had a look at that actually, hoping to go along to the meet in Edinburgh in a couple of weeks ! Thanks for the help

Welcome @EuanW22

Make sure wherever you move has room for more than one machine. It seems an unwritten rule that one very quickly turns into two. (or three, or four)

Yes, can definitely see that possibility, can already foresee the ‘interesting’ conversations ahead with the wife !

Hope to meet you tomorrow Euan - some other newbies hopefully coming but the rest are very friendly and welcoming - cheers Ailsa

Ah it’s this Sunday I’ve just realised, unfortunately I’m away working abroad this weekend. Hope to get to a meet soon as possible though !

Hi everyone, I'm new here :)

Got hooked on a couple machines we have at the office (on free play). SG and DW. I certainly prefer the former (DW kicks my butt every time).

Since I can't go into the office anymore I just bought a LotR off @Andy Hancock and I'm loving it.

Hopefully this pandemic will have died down and we can meet at Swavesey which is close to mine.
