New members - say hello right here : )

Hi all

I'm new to the world of Pinball. Although I grew up in the arcades of Southend (where I still live) in the 80's, I was more a fan of the arcade machines. I did play the occasional pinball machine but never really "got it".

It wasn't until 3 years ago at Revival where they had a number of Pinball Machines, that it clicked with me and since then I've made regular trips down to the Happidrome arcade which has a few Pinball's to play.

I own a retro games shop which has a couple of arcade machine (1 Jamma & a 1978 Space Invaders) but I'd love to get a Pinball machine for the home.

I'd love a Metallica or the 2008 Indiana Jones.

Just learning as much as I can in preparation of getting one.
Add afm and that's my 1,2,3 of machines I want and WILL own one day! Good choices! Good luck with your search

Hi

New to this forum. Just purchased my first machine. A Gottlieb Genesis. From Italy!! Trying to arrange pick up of same at the moment. Any tips on companies that specialise? Have a good few quotes in to the likes of shiply & uship. Waiting to see what come back............

Hi Joe, welcome to the forum. Nice buy on the Genesis, I'm another Gottlieb System 80B lover as you'll see from my sig. Often get to play @Poibug Genesis' too.

Good luck with Shiply, they're usually OTT over here in the UK. Can the seller not organise?

Thanks JMP, no seller cannot organise. Taking a bit of a chance as got good value on (an allegedly) good condition machine. Nice collection BTW

I've shipped pins from Italy on a pallet via palletways.com but they were packaged up by the seller. Give them a call they might do the packaging as part of the service. Good luck mate and welcome to the forum.

I always try and arrange transport through the seller as they generally get better deals their end but if that's not possible then Shiply is your best bet (if the seller won't pallet the game up). You'll normally find it pays to wait a while for quotes through Shiply as the first few days are the most expensive and then you'll start getting more sensible ones. For comparison I got a game from Spain transported using a company on Shiply for about £250  Welcome to the forum @Joe O'Donovan

Hello, I'm new. My name is Si. Got into pinball through Pinball Arcade on PS3 and PS4, then progressed to hunting down and playing real machines. I'm from Yeovi in Somerset. Been visiting Special When Lit in Salisbury quite a bit recently for my pin fix (such a fantastic place) as well as Bournemouth pier arcade, and Weston Super Mare arcades (some terrible condition machines there!). Decided to bite the bullet and invest in a pin of my own. Just not decided what yet, but this seems to be the best place to look for my first purchase.

Welcome Si. You've found SWL so that is a good thing:thumbs: Also the Arkade at Minehead is worth checking out for a range of pins, I believe the local league is held there sometimes.

Hi, good luck on you first Pin search. You are definitely in the right place. What were your thoughts as a first pin?

Welcome to Pinball Info Si.
Get yourself to NLP at Event City in Manchester October 14,15th Play Expo.
Over 120 pinball machines to play , if after that you don't know what your first pin is then there's no hope for you.

And you never know, theres always machines for sale there too so you may end up walking away from it with your first pin! :)

Welcome to the addiction

Thanks for the warm welcome. Special When Lit is truly a fantastic place. Was blown away when I walked through the door! I am actually considering saving up for a Whitewater. I absolutely hated it in Pinball Arcade, but when I played the real pin at SWL, I absolutely loved it! Just need to save up a few pennies yet, but I'm determined to own a pin very soon. Will check that place in Minehead. Was extremely disappointed by all the pins at Weston. Found a Kiss, and WWE in separate arcades there, and a Batman, Big Buck Hunter, Spiderman and Shrek on the pier. Spiderman, Big Buck and Batman were wrecked! Spiderman had rubbers littered all over the play field, Big Buck, the buck didn't work, Batman, nearly every bulb was out, and Shrek was taking coins but not starting. Shoddy place! Enjoy Bournemouth as they have Ghost Busters, Walking Dead, Creature From The Black Lagoon and the new Star Trek and they are actually maintained.

Hi I'm Ed. Just posted a few questions in the Noob area.

Always loved bar games like table football, and arcade games. So pinball is the perfect hybrid IMO.

Never thought I'd ever be able to say this but I now own a pinball (Baywatch). It's broken. And now I need to fix it. But first I need a guy called Martin to get it couriered to me from near Carlisle.

You guys seem like a great bunch already so looking forward to chatting in due course.

Not sure I'm ready to embarrass myself in a tournament yet! Gonna have to put some hours in first. Would be good to come and see what it's all about though for sure [emoji106]

Hi, I am fairly new on here, but have been a member on Jamma+ and UKvac for years.
This is my current set-up:-
About a year ago I got a small virtual pinball and really enjoyed playing it. It reminded me of all the great pinballs I had played when I was younger. So I have now taken the plunge and got myself my first proper pinball machine a Williams Indiana Jones.

At SWL we have a beginners section in the league so you don't need worry about embarrassment..! Or just turn up and play socially whilst the league is on. All are welcome, not just tournament players.
