More pins wanted than for sale

If you look in the machines “for sale/wanted/trade” section there are far more wanted ads. I was talking with a member on here who said he would like to move a machine on but he won’t do it in the present climate as yes he’d have money for another pin but with so many guys looking to buy a pin, it could be weeks/months before he got one.
I agree and am in the same boat as it would appear a lot of members on here are.
Hence more wanted ads than for sale.

I think in this instance I would put up a trade add and list what pins I’m interested in and see what happens. All of my pins apart from my first I got through a wanted add so although it looks like not much is for sale people are still willing to do deals.

I was worried pins might have been getting sold elsewhere and thats why theres not many up on here (gone out of the community) also it seems the ones that are up are asking quite alot more than a couple of months back.. Im devastated i sold my rfm wcs and t2 a few months back to pay for carvan fees and now i feel i cant get a pin back and if i do itll be something i wouldnt of considered ever buying

This is why I firmly believe we need to press Boris into forming The Ministry of Pinball and pass a law which makes it unlawful to have a machine parted out or tombstoned for more than 6 months. Punishable by confiscation of your pinball collection and banned from owning or playing any machine for 10 years. 😂😂😂😂😂

A few years ago I went to see a guy in somerset, who was selling a pin,he had around 40 machines(60's/70's) tombstoned, and admitted he would never get round to dealing with them,he was emigrating to spain, and had them all in a shipping container, ready to take them with him,I bet half of those are still in the same condition now untouched

This is a very good question we have seen lots of wanted adds over the last month s I have replied to a couple of them asking what they wanted to pay and it nothing like the going rate I also see multiple wanted adds you tell them you have it and you then get told I am waiting to see if anything else comes up
The cheeper dmd games sold as is player’s condition always sell quickly on here hence the dm this week
The much better quality games tend not to sell as well look at my South Park last week now gone to a dealer as zero interest on here
But things that are too expensive on here just don’t sell unless you get a clueless newbie that has no idea look at the shadow this week no offence dave
I got Covid totally wrong when it first happened I thought there would be lots of pins coming up for sale and the prices would go down with operators selling as all there venues are closed but no
But I do think with things getting back to normal prices will settle down a bit on some games I am not too sure about modern sterns though with lack of numbers out there and the rise in popularity and the lack of supply factor in the £500 price increase on the next title and the normal price increase at the end of the year then I think you are going to see the likes of jp2 dp gotg aiq mando hold up well
While we are on the sales subject is it just me or are we seeing more pins sold on the how much is this table worth thread than pins for sale thread kind of like a dark pool

I think we've reached the tipping point where new machines are too expensive compared to recently nib home games and classics. With Sterns next price hike coming, used is now more attractive. Also for the same reason people are hanging on to what they have.

@pinballslave can better that. His place was a sight to behold, well over 100 pins before he departed to the land of Czech.

The price trend for recently NIB home games will follow the rising prices of new Pins. It's all about supply an demand.

If I had a Pin to sell I'd put it up for sale regardless of if I could get a replacement Pin quickly.

I do feel lots of people are hoarding Pins and I'd bet many of them are sitting in games rooms or tombstoned, unplayed and gathering dust.

Depends on what game he has for sale and what he wants surely..
I personally don’t think this has anything to do with it. Let’s say he has a Road Show (only pick this as it’s a popular machine) to sell. If it’s priced right he’ll be unindated with pm’s etc and it’ll sell in minutes. He’s then gotta wait till something comes up he fancies and hope he’s first to pm about it.
Trades are all well and good if someone on here has something to trade that you really want and if not you play the waiting game.

I have/had (only one left) three sub £2.5K games in the last month. My players grade DM sold in 8 minutes for £1500.
The only reason I have not advertised my latest game(s) on here is (as Paul is aware) my account has an issue showing only as registered. It is a bug they are looking into it.

Yes prices new and used are rising. New will rise more down to component costs. Everything is going up from the screens to the IC's to the LEDs to the wood.

I can testify to this point. Sold two machines here a few weeks ago - one in 10 minutes from the ‘for sale’ section, but the other never made it out of the ‘what’s this worth’ thread.

If I showed my tombstoned collection I think there would be a murder at pinfest

I don’t think we have seen a major price increase since the day we voted to leave the eu when the pound took a massive hit since then there has been price increases but Phil has absorbed the cost and the pound has recovered too
I don’t think the price increases will have much impact at the moment if you have 11k to buy an le you have £11.5k
When bm66 le become the first 10k game people said that was it but it’s still kept going up and people still keep buying
I do think we maybe in for a big market crash at some point soon and that may have an impact on people buying nib

I doubt we will have an economy crash. but you never know. tax hikes to pay for covid, inflation already on the rise, so interest rates will shoot up as a response. housing market will be first to crash, stock markets will surge as people switch into that. again just my personal view.

I dont think they can afford to hike the % as most are just getting by paying back what they have at the moment. that would just result in more economic damage.. housing market needs to take a knock its out of control. luxury items that can be delivered to your home have gone up in value due to covid and the government cash injections. we all thought it would be better this year but i think the bubble will take 5 years to pop - that is the covid hike bubble. Theres not really much to spend on at the moment yes things are getting back to normal now but peoples habits have changed more than i think people expected. To be honest i think the price of new pins 7- 10 -12k is a joke stand over your machine and take a good look its not worth anything near that if you take off the pinball glasses :) to me a pinball machine nib should be 6k but that's because that was what they were when i started .... i have several machines all off which i paid the s/h market price at the time for. im fine with it. i dont really want to loose money on them but im happy to keep them for several years or at lest until the kids - and i grow up. not being funny but i did look at the line up the other day and think hummm there's a lot of liquid money in this room at the moment but at the moment i cant think of anything els to sink it into you cant get building work done and the car didn't do many miles in the last year or two? we enjoy the pins and the kids and friends love the "arcade"... its weird because like most i expected a mass fire sale last year and it went in the complete other direction. Always happy to pay a fair price for anything im in the market for but i have seeing FB ads that list a rather crap pin for 3-4k i tend to think those sellers are ass hats !!

Personally think the recession is coming we are currently just kicking the can down the road with a lot of countries having the money printing machine on 24/7. As inflation keeps rising and the resulting interest rates increase then watch the house of cards fall apart. It wouldn’t be instantaneous but I personally know people with crazy mortgages of 5/600k that when their fixed rate run out they are so screwed if the base rate is anywhere near 3%. A lot of the younger people think the really low interest rate we have are the norm because it’s been like this for so long. There is a big shock coming for them at some point in the future

I don't think its so much that pins have got more expensive, but rather everything has got more expensive. So much money has been printed and fewer things to spend it on.

I had a flat in London when interest rates hit nearly 15 in the 90’s, people were getting repossessed left right and centre. Came very close ourselves, if it happens again God help people! People with money will be rubbing their hands with glee.

Lee still has those games in storage. We are still waiting for the completion of his games room before sorting out a jolly boys outing to him. Some fantastic rare unusual games in a great collection.
Yep, still got 'em and still working on getting the games room sorted and the ones I want to keep set up... getting there, but having kids certainly puts the brakes on this kind of stuff!! This is one of the rooms so far... tombstoned and gathering dust...
