Iron Man Vault Edition

Nice one, can't beat opening a new toy like that. :)

Would love one of these myself but can't bring myself to sell anything to fund it.

About £250, not even close or it would be done.... :D
Yeah right and I can just see your Mrs letting you sell her little babies to fund something pinball.
You'd be talking in a high pitched voice wither your knackers on the floor.

Main differences I've observed between the VE and the standard.

VE has extra shiny metallic cabinet decals (look amazing - camera doesn't do them justice) the standard has a painted cabinet (almost looks dull by comparison).

VE has 2 catch lockbar the standard has the proper sliding lock mechanism.

VE backbox like new Star Trek (looks very smart in these colours), standard has old format (looks fine).

VE has the new two bolt backbox locking system (same size as leg bolts) the standard has the big allen key locking mechanism.

VE has the metal leg protectors on the corner of the cabinet.

VE has LEDs as standard (no ghosting) and brighter GI.

Mine was delivered on Wednesday. Game is as great as I remember, very fast and very difficult, so I'm happy. The new metallic cab art looks great, I really like the new backbox design that I wasn't previously convinced by, and I'm actually quite impressed by the factory LED job.

Only have two real criticisms - the biggest of which is the 2 catch lockbar, which is just awful. Really really poor for a toy this expensive. Second criticism is the pegs instead of the rails for lifting the playfield - never had to deal with them before, and they're completely useless. I'm also not a huge fan of the new two bolt locking mechanism for the backbox, but that's not such a big issue.

A quick heads up for anyone else with one - after a few games last night the Iron Monger kept getting slightly stuck halfway down. It would normally fall back in not long after, but something was definitely off. Lifted the playfield and I noticed that the arm that turned to lift it had come forward off the motor a little bit, and that the Iron Monger was getting caught on the arm. Pushed the arm back in towards the motor and tightened the small black screw holding the arm in place and all is fine once again. May be worth an occasional tighten to prevent this from happening.

All in all though I'm very happy. Not much beats opening a NIB machine!

Any idea what leds stern are fitting to their machines? are they 555's and 44's or smd's on circuit boards? Some have RGB leds ( ACDC LE? ), I would assume they are SMD's on boards?

Definitely comes with metal ramp protectors, I'll check for mylar either tonight or tomorrow and get back to you.

Awesome, thanks mate  That's at least 2 of the 10 delivered now......can't wait to get the phone call :)

You can see the ramp protectors in the photos above if you look carefully. Didn't notice any mylar but wasn't looking for any.

Awesome, thanks mate  That's at least 2 of the 10 delivered now......can't wait to get the phone call :)

Mylar is factory fitted on them.

Call is from Hadfields http://www.hadfieldstransport.com/ not Phil. They should have delivered them all this week, drop Phil an email to make sure they have your number and/or ask him if you can call them direct.

Had mine delivered yesterday.

Overall pretty pleased with it, don't like the 2 catch lockbar at all but hey ho!

Checked this morning and as Nick said, mylar was factory fitted around both magnets. Had a few games late last night and a couple more this morning and Iron Monger started to do the getting caught half way down thing again - I've tightened the screw holding the arm against the motor again, but wondering if something has fallen out in transport as it seems unusual that it's happened twice so quickly. Would someone mind taking a couple of pics of the mechanism that lifts Iron Monger on their machine so that I can compare?

The two catch lock bar and the posts to support the playfield are a joke. Sliding the playfield back in has become a logistical challenge when doing it alone! Apart from that liking it more and more - total adrenaline rush. Love that the progress towards Do or Die gets wiped at the beginning of each ball, really raises the stakes. It's really difficult to walk away after a game, definitely has you reaching for the start button one more time.

Looks really nice with the shiny cab art. Going on the must buy next list.

It is very white out of the box with the LED's. Very flashy blinky - no wonder it comes with a epilepsy warning.
Decals are lovely. New backbox is great. Some nice upgrades by Stern
