I couldn't find a thread to pop this video on so thought I'd create one.

What can I say . . . . . I was totally blown away by this machine to such an extent that I'm incredibly tempted to buy one. I know it's rated highly on pinside so I shouldn't be surprised but it has that fun factor and is one of the best machines that I've ever played.

The owner of this game is a proper gent and in all honesty I wasn't expecting to film on this day so apologies for the poor viewing angle. However he's kindly invited me back for a days filming so when the world has stopped going mad I'll pop over with my kit and do a better job.

Looks fantastic, great condition 👍 thanks for that matey. Love the sound affects.
How does this BW IJ compare to the Stern version? Anyone chime?

I've had a grand total of 4 games on Indy (all at a PlayExpo). Nice video, how the heck did you balance the ball at 2.44? - if you were trying to do that could take all day to get it to stop there!

Pure fluke. That's about as good as I can play pinball in all honesty, I even fluked a drop catch and nudged the machine 😂

The original is one of the best ever Pins.
The Stern is one of the worst ever, a snooze fest zzzzzzzzzz.
Oh..... just checked the Pinside ratings, big gap between the two in favour of the Bally one.
Looked at the footage of the Stern one, didn’t look too bad but guess you have to play both to know the score👍

If you like endless multiballs for no effort then you may like it.
I suspect the Mypinballs code rewrite will improve it considerably?

Williams IJ is far better than the Stern one. The owner has a very similar taste in Pinballs to me. Noticed the TOM and Totan next to IJ 👍

Yes he's got some lovely 90's games and looking at your previous machines list it seems you certainly do have similar taste.

I've played this machine twice and thought it was great. I'd love to own one, but they don't come up for sale very often anymore :(

You can understand why, it's definitely a keeper. If one came up for sale I'd seriously consider it.

I love this game, it's a stone cold classic. I used to play this so much when I was younger.

Great video by the way, it was a real nostalgia trip.

I really wanted to like the WMS IJ. Was left underwhelmed when I played one. Ended up buying one and it never clicked with me. Such a great theme but the game is just bland. Even the drawings of the characters are half ****d.

Gorgeous game and theme wise and layout wise whats not to love - @strobey was streaming this a couple of years ago - I think Twitch will have killed his VODs but I am sure he got to the switch based mode at the end no?

Great game I owned a beauty way back In the day and a testament to just how loaded these pins were back then. I had mine for quite a few years but like all my keepers they eventually go.
As for the stern one getting bad comments I totally disagree it’s a great game and unless you have owned and played it in a home environment like all pins you will be pleasantly surprised at just how good it is and half the price of its counterpart.

I don’t miss mine, the mode shot bounce outs even though I made it better and the ball dribbling down under the POA and down the left hand side was a bit of a downer for me. Ramp shots are great and liked the POA, right ramp all the way back to left flipper shot was very nice.
One of the best looking pins about and this one looks great!

Ricochet on Pinside has an amazing solution for the mode shot issue.
Yes I’ve seen that, was just after I sold mine. I put some foam up there that improved it. A solid right shot into that was very satisfying when it held.
Don't think the one in the video has it. Every IJ should have that improvement along with the plastic over the drop targets to stop air balls.

Still one of my favourite pins in my lineup. that and MM seem to be the most popular

mine has the foam for the mode shot and it is very easy to get it, and rarely have bounce outs. it makes the game easy though

I have one here in the line up.

Casual players love the game the most out of all my machines, it is so easy to be rewarded by randomly hitting things and some form of multiball is achievable with random effort.
There is enough toys and flashing lights to keep folks amused. There are a few modes that move to a DMD game where you need to drive the mine cart with the flippers or watch were the cup has moved to which are fun. There is the small upper playfield which you can steer the ball around the pitfalls. Or should be able to steer the ball but I can never really do it.

However, I agree that it lacks something to really make me want to get on it for a few hours. It has a range of modes but they are all just simple challenges and there are so many of them that I sometime get bored before I collect them all. I might never have achieved collecting them all too. Unlike, TAF or CFTBL where I really get excited when a game is going well.

It is a casual players machine and great looking, fun for the family. Weighs a ton as a widebody. It has it's place in my line up because I have finished restoring it (I have all the parts as you do) and because the kid and wife like it. When these conditions are covered, it may get moved on and be replaced.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that I like easy games. A few achievable missions which can sometimes be fluked is right at my level. 😁

I’m having the most fun on the simpler games these days and my family want to play each other on them more.
Good to have a variety if you are not lucky enough to have pins to play on your doorstep. Think I need some more of these cheaper simpler games😁

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Completely agree with Geoff @Calimori on this. WMS IJ is my biggest disappointment in pinball as it was the first pin I ever played back in the day in a holiday arcade and was my grail game when I got into the hobby. Picked up a really nice one reasonably early on in my collecting and was absolutely made up, never going to sell it etc

It lasted 6 months and then I was bored with it, I was absolutely gutted :( I did have a much smaller collection at the time which didn't help but where as I'd definitely have a WCS or Whirlwind again, I've got no desire for another IJ. Dream theme, grail game and all that but in the end it just didn't hold up to being played at home for me and finding that out made me quite sad!. Give me a Space Station or a Robo-War over IJ any day of the week
