Hi guys,
Taken from Martin's post on ukpinball. Would love your support and encouragement with this, we think it has huge potential and can be a nice addition to the UK pinball scene. Any questions or thoughts I'd be happy to hear. Let's get involved and play some pinball!
Cheers, Craig
Hi everyone.
I'm pleased to announce the formation of a brand new nationwide pinball championship - the IFPA UK Championship Series.
Devised by Craig Pullen and Greg Mott, the Series pulls together results from all the major tournaments held in the UK in each calendar year to produce an overall ranking. Then, at the end of the year, the top 20 players from across the country will have qualified for the national final. The final will be held in different parts of the country each year, probably the following January of February.
The UK Championship Series is fully endorsed by the IFPA and we've wasted no time in getting this up and running. In fact, it's running right now, since all the results from tournaments held in the UK so far this year are already included in the 2014 Series. That means if you have played in any UK tournament this calendar year (excluding leagues), then you're already in with a chance of qualifying for the final and winning cash prizes, trophies and more WPPR points.
The current standings, the rules, the details of the finals, and the remaining qualifying events are all available on the IFPA website. It's the lead article on the front page, but you can get to the UK Championship Series information at any time at: www.ifpapinball.com/ukcs
The ranking and results tables require a little tidying up and we'll do that shortly, but Craig, Greg and I wanted to get this launched as soon as possible, since the next qualifying event is the UK Pinball Open which is under three weeks away. The UK Pinball Classic also counts towards the Series as a side-tournament.
With at half the qualifying tournaments still to take place, it's all to play for. With your top six results counting, you can still win even if you haven't played any tournaments so far this year.
So big thanks to Craig and Greg for coming up with the concept and working out the details. Pop over to the IFPA website to check it out, spread the word, and if you've got any questions I'm sure they will both be happy to answer them.
Cheers,
Martin.
