Jukeboxes are on a completely different level.

Take a look at the parts on the main mechanism for a Seeburg jukebox - pdf attached.

I want to strip it down and re-build it - but just looking at the complexity is giving me cold sweats

Indeed, it's the moving parts, then the scarcity of spare parts, then finding the parts in front of you are actually from another model entirely.

Most of my 'knowledge' on vinyl jukeboxes came from the jukebox section of the old Poa magazine, whence I recall a warning that Seeburg were the most challenging marque.
