If you had £4k and only one machine at home . . . .

Around the 4K mark I really enjoy Whitewater. If ramps are what your after this is great

Thanks everyone.....
I should have run a poll 😉

TWD would probably be winning.
Are you a fan of the programme or Zombie theme? That was my biggest negative - hated the theme/genre - owned an LE and then a Pro, just couldn’t get over the theme of it... Pro version lacks a fantastic red lightshow, but otherwise I preferred it over the LE. It was also quite hard.

Even for the best game in the world, if I can’t abide the theme I will struggle.

Actually I've watched all the series and the spin-offs so quite like the theme.

I'm not as into it as Lord of the rings or star trek but I do watch it.

That being said I love star wars and couldn't get on with that Stern game.

Spiderman is the answer. TAF will get old fast
I have often thought that but TAF is here 10 years on. It has an indefinable magic that just makes it a joy to play - even for the thousandth time. I guess it's like saying on Tuesday I never want to eat pizza again.... Friday night rolls round... Pizza please! [emoji3]

Myself and I think kevlar are only a few of the ones that don’t get twd, I have tried playing it but just don’t get the hype and I think the geometry is off down the right hand side...

many others would be much better in my opinion.

star trek (stern) is great but is really just an updated st:tng so maybe not the best in your case.

spiderman, twilight zone, Addams family, Ripleys all great or even roadshow

ripleys?!

TAF is terrible.

The only other game from the Williams era that you should consider is Attack From Mars but you'll struggle to get anything other than a turd for 4K.

You got a Williams game; modern stern is a great balance.

Goto flip out play loads of games make a choice, here is the list of Stern's we have at the club:

Iron Maiden
The Simpsons
Iron Man
The Walking Dead
Transfomers
Lord of the Rings
AC/DC
Metalica
World Poker Tour
Avatar
Batman The Dark Knight

Honestly @Gonzo - if you like the theme, speak to @roadshow16 - get him to pull the colourDMD and see if - I have a stern red display kicking about you can borrow until one comes up - if he doesn’t have it. You could keep it if you don’t fall in love with the game. I’m that confident.

I love DI - but am getting itchy James pinball rotation syndrome, DI will go before TWD.

Wow that's quite an endorsement.

I think I'll have to do precisely that Neil.

I do agree about the balance & contrast between older and newer machine.

If you could lay your hands on a decent IJ for £4000, then I'll give it my vote. Enough modes and nostalgia to keep me going for a while.

I do love Addams. It has the best call outs ever. Raul Julia is my hero. Amazing toys and inventive modes. Theme and the way it is implemented are second to none. I just found when I owned it I soon got fed up with ramp scoop ramp scoop forever. It was a grail pin for me and when I got it I rapidly realised it wouldn't last for me. To be fair this was in a one pin setup. That said 'SHOWTIME' will never ever get old!

This has been a great thread, very interesting and again just shows that it’s all a matter of taste and opinion.
I love horror movies and anything Zombie themed but haven’t enjoyed TWD at all yet (fully aware after a good session it might appeal a bit more).
One game that I have constantly heard good reviews for is AFM and I agree, it’s just superb - I’d push my budget and go for one of those personally, 2nd choice would be Metallica as I’m a big fan of the band and the pin.

Ditto. You pine for years to get one. Then you do and it’s just not got that long lasting appeal.
I really enjoy the relighting of the jackpot. It’s what I enjoyed the most. So I sold it and kept funhouse which is more than half the price and effectively identical rules. Replace the mansion with the mirror and hey presto. Save yourself £3k.

I've never played AFM . . . . then again I haven't played most things.

Just to continue with the 'we all have different tastes '...... I prefer AFM to MM, but still find it vastly over rated. I can take or leave either and find both of them a bit of a chore to play these days tbh.

Funny old pinball world innit [emoji16]

What's your favorite then?

1 pin on a desert island forever (you're allowed a generator obviously).

Simple answer is you will get bored of them all if you constantly play them especially in a small collection, I have 10 decent games and play them on and off some more than others etc.
TAF for example was one of the least played but the other day I had a few games and it was great again, you will drive yourself mad looking for the next greatest pin since sliced bread as it just doesn’t exist - they are all good, well maybe not Popeye😂
The reliable ones are what you want😉

Tron for that money for me (on the understanding that a secondhand Star Wars Pro is over £4k!)

What are you on, John? You sold it after about a week and you know it's too shallow as an only pin (cos I said so).

LOTR is the answer.

It was 6 weeks actually and I do miss Tron! Swapped it out for GOT and that was a mistake!

I would take a Tron over LOTR...........FIGHT.......!
