All roms , I think there were 3altogether
Three new ROM chips are required- the Addams Gold game ROM, and two sound ROM chips. These chips will replace the chips currently in your game.
Old chips (regular Addams) removed are:
New chips (Addams Gold) installed are:
- Game ROM U6 (on MPU board)
- Sound ROM U18 (on MPU board)
Installing Gold ROMs will enable some additional features, sounds, and display effects to your game. The only feature that cannot be used is the Extra Ball buy-in button. Addams Gold machines had this button installed under the plunger on front right side of cabinet. Regular Addams machines had no such button. It is possible to install the button in your game, but we don't recommend making the modification- it can adversely affect the value of your game.
- Game ROM U6, revision LX3 (on MPU board)
- Sound ROM U15, revision L-1 (on MPU board)
- Sound ROM U18, revision L-1 (on MPU board)
Are they supposed to be there , is there any need for them if not. . .?the round orange disc on the flipper switches appears to be a capacitor
Yes took 2out and put three in. , unfortunately I did not get these from you Paul , wish I had. But did not know you did them , maybe next time , can you do the one that has the error , u18. If so how much. , cheers leeIf these were from me, let me know and i'll send you another - you shouldn't get a checksum error at all....

Thanks jay , I don,t know what country it is originally from , but thanks for the info , that explains a lot , leeHi, Lee
Your Addams and Fish Tales don't need capacitors on the flipper contacts, since they have solid-state 'FlipTronic' systems for the flipper solenoids. Gilligan's Island was one of the last WMS games to use the 'conventional' high-current switching type of flipper unit.
I was short of time yesterday, or I'd have said something about the front door/interface board too. That Gilligan's was probably built with an old-type triple-chute door, using mechanical 'S10' type coin acceptors; is it German or Dutch spec?. I think someone's fitted an 'ECA' (Electronic Coin Acceptor) door instead, and then tried to get it working with those wiring mods. The picture of the interface board in your Addams shows the additional connector, wiring, and 8-way DIL switch used in a proper installation.
Also, changing the door has left the game without a switch to inform the Cpu when the door is shut. I don't think this is critical on Gilligan's, though.
