Just seen Andy has put these up on Facebook. New cab design unveiled at Festi Flip. Not sure if they have been seen before but here's a few. Hopefully we will have one to play at the Slam, looking forward to playing the finished game :)

I hope I'm proved wrong but I don't see how this is going to be more attractive for buyers than MM, Predator, Hobbit, Star Trek etc. it needs to be priced under £3k to stand a chance imo

I don't understand what the point of the backbox is either, the whole idea of machines of old was to display information and catch the attention of people in the arcades.

This does neither.

the backbox is well executed but it doesn't size up the the bottom of the cab too good and it now has the appearance of a zizzle. I cant see buyers being too happy about that. A shroud to cover the backbox to make it more proportional to the huge cab its sits on could work well there, but it needs to be VERY close the standard size/specs imo.

I do love the idea of interchangeable PF's and graphics and I think that's what sets this whole project apart from the others.

It shows you what game it is and points the speakers in the direction of the player.
Shame this did not make it to NLP.
Lets hope its at the Slam.

It just does nothing for me, I can't get excited about it.

I played it at the UKPP, its a bland snorefest in every sense of the word and I'm not fully sure the guys making it know what they're talking about.

Doesn't really give you faith when they champion the use of the computer because they have lots of storage and don't need to use large ROM chips (Basically saying Stern used 'costly' 64mb ROMs for the music on AC/DC), then when challenged by saying NAND is cheap as chips, they simply move on to another subject o_O

I'd love for them to do well and drive prices down, but I just can't see it being any more successful than Sterns "The Pin".

Also played at the UKPP this year. Just a minor problem but I found the squareness of the lockdown bar very uncomfortable on the hands, this version doesn't look any different in that area.

hmm, it is pretty ugly tbh. Proportionally the slim backbox just doesn't look right, the black colour is not too good, and that silver plate around the ball release looks weird too. Maybe it's just that it's different to normal (change not good!), but it looks like it needs a decent industrial design artist to sort it out - it's a bit amateurish at the moment for me.

That is one fugly looking thing. If I asked my daughter to draw what a pinball machine looks like, I'd be disappointed if she drew that.

Guessing that's the final artwork too now that the flames have disappeared from the bikes? Still looks like they're smuggling balloons in those jackets though. Hard to believe Doug Watson was the same artists that did work on Barracora, BK2K, T2, Demolition Man etc etc.

I *reallly* wanted this to be good. Bring back Circe's and that woman with two left feet. :(

The slim backbox doesn't bother me really, I was just looking at the slim box on my Sega showcase Starship Troopers and it makes working on the boards in situ twice as easy. I've never thought it looks too slim.

I'm not a big fan of looking up the bikers bumholes on the backglass artwork though, that seems quite unnerving

It's a shame really, I admired Andy's commitment entering the pinball manufacturing arena, but by most of the negative
comments being posted reluctantly I have to agree with the majority of them.

What attracts you to a particular machine 'for me first off is it's artwork/appearance that catches the eye. the back glass on this is amateurish to say the least.

The theme motorbikes/racing tried and tested "yes" it should work ' I cannot say as when I saw it at the show alas it was broke but was disappointed with the layout of the
playfield the x-over ramps were opaque, turned me off instantly (hopefully this was a prototype and not the production finish).

Yes the backbox looks wrong, totally wrong the speaker panel is boring the logo's too big and as Rus said it looks like a full size Zizzle

The panels in the side of the cab, different yes, with changeability that's promised would work well IMHO.

I suppose its all down to costs at the end of the day design, tooling ,components etc all add up and you don't build these just for fun at the end
of the day hopefully you make a profit for all your endeavours.

I honestly hope it works for him eventually but .... you can add the rest

Trouble is by the time this gets to market the party of late will be over.....

Why waste valuable time and money on novelty cabinet 'portholes'? (Perspex? - nightmare to clean and will scratch up and look crap in no time). It doesn't add anything to the gameplay and looks to be different for different's sake.

Forget spending money re-designing the cabinet and back box, there's nothing wrong with the B/W items, put the investment into the playfield/ramps/toys/theme/artwork/gameplay/sound etc.

I hate to say it but this looks like a student project.

Does not make for great reading from a +ve comment standpoint? I think it goes to show what we have come to expect from a modern pin and how hard it is to hit the mark, bottom line is this, if you had a couple of grand to spend on a machine, what would you spend it on? (see other thread) if it's not this then unfortunately it's a non-starter and yup, those 4-1 under tail silencers do look like bum holes :), joking aside I take my hat off to anyone who takes on a venture like this.

I am looking forward to playing the updated version, it it showed potential when I played it at UKPP.

At UKPP my biggest complaint was the glaring bright light from the backbox causing too much playfield reflective glare, so hopefully they've turned down the bulb wattage in that fluorescent tube.

Does anyone know if the turbocharger ramp (like on HS2) is still included? Is there a video mode? Is there a physical ball lock? Is the game mode based? Is there a wizard mode?

C'mon guys lets get behind the Heighwayman. Don't stress too much about the back glass and cab, is it gonna play fun and sound fun? And what is it gonna use as a TLA (three letter acronym) since FT is already taken?

This is where I am, stuck in a long dull meeting

The artwork is on the same level as the covers of Poundland CD rom games, it honestly resembles clipart. But at least it doesn't have that comical animal/man transformation theme like it had before. The reports I've heard from people who have played it haven't been good either - its a 'dud'. I wanted this to do well but its not looking great at the mo.

Exactly. I fail to see why anyone would pick this over the alternatives (not to mention 2nd hand games) but sensible pricing could save it.

That is on ugly mofo.

I thought the later williams machines where the peak of ugliness, but this sets the bar lower than ever.

I thought the art work was still in the early stages and this was just a draft so it may not be fair to be harsh as it's not the final cut ;)

That art has been knocking around for months and is being used to promote the game. Andy can't expect people bit to comment on it

Indeed. Gameplay is everything. Even the loveliest looking pins can disappoint. To the average punter a pinball is a pinball, if these are out on site they will play it if they want to ....regardless of the dimensions of the backbox. Lets just hope some ops support a UK manufacturer and get some out there.

Scrap the artist and hire this guy. Perfect for what is needed

unique gift ideas, moto GP, Formula 1, motorsport art, posters, prints

He is good though I preferred the previous picture you posted with a cup of tea included. Every track day I have been to has involved a lot of cups of tea because a lot of them are windy cold ex-airfields. ;)

If I remember correctly, the cab is designed to be able to be changed to other themes so it is going to look different to accommodate this. I can live with that if it plays well which is what we all want, though if I am going to have a large item take up space in my house (and cost a lump of money), I would like it to be attractive.
