Fishy tale owners

I have a fishy. I would always want a fishy to have a caster to preserve originality. However, I think the original caster design is pretty crap - contrast with the guns on IJ and the Shadow which are in a different league IMHO.

I agree Williams could have done better. When I’ve got some more time I’ll pull together a couple of concepts closer to a fishing rod and reel.

For those who like to keep things close to original, I’m looking to get a metal seamless/screwless version based on tweak of this prototype 3D model.

I was in the shower this morning looking at a massive ..... bruise on the side of my thigh and realised it was from walking into the caster on my FT, I have done this quite a few times and bloody hurts. Anyway was thinking with the amount of force when barging into it that the 3D mould might break off which would be pretty annoying.
Does anyone else bump into their launchers, maybe I drink too much🤪

The shadow gun nearly to

Indiana Jones, you get that second after ploughing into the damn thing before the pain/swearing 🤬 kicks in. Something you only do once, or twice at the most.

Is it wrong to be excited by a 3D print?

Got this the other day - not sure of the material. It’s almost ceramic like - guessing it’s some kind of resin.

Anyway - pretty gorgeous, and once painted and clear coated to match the button will look amazing.

Need to do a “walk in” test!

Now I have a one piece print - anyone know someone with good detailed casting skills/business that could help me get a metal version - that would be fantastic.

Enjoy watching this guys work - looks like a real skill.

That sure does look nice. Im on the lookout now for some coach bolts to attach mine. Probably m4 or m5 i reckon

Had a go at fitting the 3D print and wiring up the button. Seems the 12V at the 4 pin connector is from GI... not ideal. Not clever enough to work out a way to give the LED a more stable appearance.

I think the handle will look great when painted. An engineering friend tells me it could be possible to zinc plate it. Not sure if it’s worth the cost or the hassle.

Looks like it might be AC feed which is causing the flashing LED, in which case you need a diode (1N4004) in reverse direction across the LED or build your own bridge rectifier...

Hi Mike
it's actually a switch in the switch-matrix, which is why you see 12V and not 6.3V ac
Switch number #87
have a look at the attached schematic
cheers Bob

Thats a really good watch... thanks. Learned a lot, and gave me the inspiration to learn more.

The LED power - not 100% it is standard, as some of the wiring has been hacked, and I've slowly been reverting it back to standard as and when I find hacks. I will put a scope on the power connectors to work out what is actually squirting through it. Good to know Switch 87 is involved as standard (manual says 87 not used so makes sense)

another historical cost-cutting exercise during production.
ALL FT have the wiring in place, just not used!
i made a batch of these replacement switches with LEDs for somebody in the states recently
cheers Bob

Oh man the unobtanium mine has been opened.
I have a nice printed one but would be up to get a metal one

If anyone is doing a Pinball life order please give me a shout, I need some reject button covers and coin slot shoots and happy to chip in to postage etc

A couple of members are looking to place an order with Pinball Life - anymore interest from this thread? Hoping a few more combined will make the shipping costs reasonable ~$80 at the moment [emoji15]... so divide by a few makes it doable.

Let me know please.
