Quick write up on how the Last 16 round: Josh Iles v Jakob Tkacz

Started with Josh picking Corvette
B1: 64M v 16 M
B2: 140 v 260
B3: 799 v 316
Great game from Josh to go 1-0 up

White Water
B1: 5M v 135M
Poor MB from Josh, hitting nothing, manages to restart but only got a couple of JP started 5x but then drained almost immediately
B2: 5M v 137M
B3: 498M v
Jakob stared 5x then multi ball, missed shots but then got quite a few 60M JP to level up at 1-1

Tron
B1: 2.6M v 5.2M
Josh qualified light cycle missed scoop
B2: 14.6M v 12.1
B3: 16.6 v 16.3M
On ball 3 Josh missed disc shot for MB and when Jakub started it we thought he’d overtake easily but he drained out of Mb quickly. After an anxious wait for his bonus Josh leads 2-1, after probably his worst game of the series

TWD
Jakob started with a masterclass of repeated shots with a 78M Barn
Josh return from the pops in Barn went STDM, after having watched all of Jakub’s come nicely back to the flipper (“that’s walking dead for you!”)
B1: 88M v 2.5M
B2: 90 v 6M
B3: 117 v 106M
A great comeback attempt from Josh with BB, Prison and Well MBs but not quite enough and he had mode ready but could not find tunnel shot for mode start

Level at 2-2

World Cup Soccer
B1: 598M v 55
Josh got Final Draw on Ball 1 hitting the Scoop on the fly (exactly as he did in the bye playoff last night)
B2: 898M v 445M
Jakub had a poor final draw, with only one JP
B3: 1.42B v 470M
Final draw again from Josh where he hit nothing but got the, restart and hit JP for 100M to leave Jakub needing 1B to catch, leaving Josh needing one win to progress

Mustang
B1: 6.2 v 3.3M
Jakub got Gears MB on ball 1
B2: 8.8 v 21M
Josh had a much better Gears MB hitting loads of JPs leaving Jakub needing 13M to stand any chance
B3: 23M needed
Jakob got Burnout MB but was less than 2M ahead, with a mode and a few shots, Josh overtook the target to close out a 4-2 victory and make it into the last eight

Amazing stuff, well played all of you. Come on Josh, you can do it man 🤩

Really well played Josh, Jack and Martyn. Super impressive, I looked at Jack's qualifying group in particular and thought that was a really tough one so how you sailed through was amazing. Very bad luck on Whitewater :( but still well done to all

Josh, Jack and Jeremy all made it out of the group, so it was just me that let the side down for UK entrants (I was doing OK with 5 wins from nine games and then lost the last six in a row!)

Josh and Jack were both in playoffs to get a bye with a top 2 position last night and both were playing amazingly well

EPC Quarter Final: Josh Iles v Michael Trepp

Michael started off by picking Turtles
B1: 7.4M v 7k
Michael got Pizza o Meter & MB going to hit decent points, Josh couldn’t find the ramp and drained out quickly
B2: 9M v 16k
Turtle Power MB for Michael, Josh still struggling to find any shot
B3: 10M v 2.1M
Josh finally found shots to start TP MB but without a mode really couldn’t get points and so ends up starting with a loss

Corvette
B1: 25M v 39M
Both players got nasty right outlane drains with little more than a skill shot hit between them
B2: 905M v 175M
Josh was very patient, short plunging five times to get a post transfer to right flipper for the left ramp shot
He then hit lots of combos to get to 250M before starting MB during which he played in a very controlled way, with balls cradled and stage flipping side ramp JPs

B3: 1.084B v 1.104B
Josh started Drag Race MB but didn’t manage as many JPs, though still leaving Michael needing nearly 1B on his final ball
He got two MBs to close up, then started Catch Me MB and hit a few shots before draining with just under 1B showing
No-one knew if the bonus was enough but he won by 20M to leave Josh 2-0 down

NBA
B1: 106 v 4
Michael then chose NBA which it turns out is the first machine he ever bought and the familiarity showed as he quickly got control and spent 10min working his way through Around the World MB and half court hoops
Josh struggled to get the ball on the flipper
B2: 146 v 43
Josh got some flow starting Shoot Around MB
B3: 349 v 121
Michael put on a show with MB Hoops, Trophy MB and a Championship Ring which added 100 to his score of 249 leaving Josh needing three hundred points in one ball!

He played for nearly fifteen minutes, working towards the Championship with a couple of MBs but ultimately couldn’t find enough shots

Tron
B1: 589k v 699k
B2: 915k v 2.2M
No real progress by either player with both getting horrible drain returns leaving a one ball game for Josh to save himself
B3: 1.6M
Josh tilted trying to save yet another return to the left outlane before really getting any control in the game

A shame to end the weekend like that but Josh played brilliantly all weekend, I really enjoyed watching him play against great players and he ended up with a joint 5th place finish and 120 Euros in prize money
