Complete Earthshaker project

Thanks guys, really looking forward to having this done as will give me the kick up the add to do the cabinet :)

Here are some photos of the second coat of dried primer. Need to sand down the drips and roller texture. But one more coat should do it :)

The the end is nigh on this back box! I have sprayed on the final primer layer (screw fix spray primer, which is actually very good. Far far better then the other ****e) as i want a nice smooth final primer layer.

Final very light sanding then ready for the final blue :)

Spraying not going too well, will sand down try again or just out source, main cab will be out sourced as not enough time to work on it.

On a more fun note! shiny bits back from plater who mirror polished them for me to match the larger ball guides.

Will hopefully be able to install these tonight and most of the plastics and maybe if still have time the large ramp!

Put most of it back together now, next will be the left ramp / spiral ramp. Did a test fit on left ramp and appears it will go in ok (little bit right as the reproduction ramps use thicker plastic so all a bit tight to fit) but the spiral ramp did not seem to align correctly but will take another look once left ramp in (goes in first)

There is a mixture of old/new plastics basically i only want to use the original plastics apart from where they was broken as the quality is so much better then the new digital printed ones (ink keeps chipping off :() so i will be after some NOS or very good quality plastics if any one knows of some :)

Some photos of progress :)

I'll give it a proper good waxing once its complete, make it really shinny shinny :)

Russell

Top side basically done now, just waiting on one tiny metal post you can like only buy from states. And one more rail guide to be polished (forgot to mention both sides needed polishing on this particular piece) so habitrail plastic not fully bolted down yet.

Spiral ramp needed some of its mounting holes slighty moved.

I have Hi-Resolution scans of the front and back of the Backglass and have a contact who can print onto glass (even the proper mirrored glasses etc) if you want the files please let me know and you can have them

Thanks guys :)

I have learned i love the electronics side of things and the pf swap was good fun but the cabinet side of things is not for me! Still trying to finish off this backbox hehe :D

@AndyB53 I was lucky and managed to track down a very good condition original backglass :) thx for the offer though :) I know where to go if i ever smash it!

Got a black pyramid one at all ? Would like to get one of your Perspex repos but cost would be more than machine is worth 😫
"Perspex repro!?? NOT at all. Never use perspex but can print to Lexan film to apply to glass!
All I do is repair and re-create the artwork to HD standard and then have a colleague who can print to glass or decal. If direct to glass we can do proper real mirrored edges etc (not silver paint) and these recreations are better than the original as they will never fade or burn and are very scratch resistant (you cannot accidentally scratch them) as the colour and backmask are embedded in the print

Time to work on the coin door
all metal back from powder coater and plastics run through dish washer :D

Did not get round to spraying but did get a big chunk of work done on the cab.

Sanded it all down (glue from decals was a nightmare clogging sander)

I wanted the inner bottom wood to be left natural but truing to sand all the little edges was gonna take years so might just spray instead.

Circled all the imperfections and applied first round of wood filler.

One question: the outer bottom of the cab i want to keep just wood not sprayed yet the edges need work ie wood filler. Is my only option to use a wood coloured filler so it blends in? What do you guys do when cleaning up the bottom edges (and not spraying them?)

Cabinet sanding / wood filler work almost complete :) Just got the bottom wood edges to clean up now using the wood coloured wood filler which really blends in!

This cab was pretty banged up so many dings and dents but nice and smooth now :)20190825_205157.jpg20190824_212109.jpg20190824_212148.jpg20190824_212157.jpg20190825_205233.jpg20190824_212132.jpg20190824_212144.jpg20190825_205112.jpg20190825_205137.jpg20190824_212102.jpg

($hit got paint on carpet again :/)

Next is the decals! Still not decided on wet/dry so will try each on the back box sizes and decide from there which is best for me.

After that will be the braiding.
Think we are on the home stretch now! :)

This is just too good - I have had to put mine up for sale at the moment, but if it doesn't sell - and the money is sunk, what can the wife say :P

Used dry method and the process went very well. By the hardest part was trimming the excess i found!

Now onto cabinet20190907_203950.jpg

Next is the sides

Noticed there appears to be 2 versions of this artwork available. One with red boarder on backbox / weird inner logo and red / white cracks on cabinet (same as OEM) then the version i appear to have which has black border on back box and Williams W logo and black cracks on the cabinet.
