DIY Speaker Upgrade WPC

I have had pinball pro speaker upgrades in my addams family for years, good but expensive.

As I now have Twilight Zone and The Shadow (both WPC games with original speakers), I am considering an upgrade as I can buy "pairs" of car speakers and not leave the other halves unused in the cupboard afterwards

Has anyone done this please ? What speakers do you use ? Do you need to install a volume control on the subwoofer ? Does this need anything more than soldering the new ones in ?
