Cars that fit pinballs in....

To avoid: a VW Golf has a lip in the boot, so a bad choice. And an Audi A6 estate has a sloping roof, so also a poor choice.

For the record you can get a pinball in a Jaguar ipace but you need to take the backbox off and push the passenger seat all the way forwards so whilst possible a passenger would be really uncomfortable.

But I really don't like carrying a pinball in any car as the risk of a 150kg solid object in a passenger compartment in an accident is scary. Martin is safer and for me living in the far north he is cheaper than my time /fuel.

Just popped some pics up had some on fb but not got around to popping in here been awol 😂

I went to pick up an armchair this afternoon. Not a particularly big armchair, but no amount of wrangling, removing legs, floor hatches etc would get it through the boot opening. Who designs these great big 7 seater SUV's??? Somebody that doesn't collect armchairs and pinball machines that's for sure :(

We’ve a 2010 focus and the rear seats can be moved out, but I’ve NEVER tried to fit a pin in …..

The same idiots that come up with the specifications for 4x4 vehicles. Just been shopping for a new car for my wife and living very rural she insists on a 4x4 that she will actually use as a 4x4 on rubbish roads little better than dirt tracks etc. But manufacturers now only sell their 4x4 versions in the top specification so you get the big rimmed alloy wheels with low profile tyres. So now she has the car we are buying a full set of smaller rimmed wheels with higher profile winter tyres. Apparently there is no demand for 4x4s with wheels and tyres appropriate for proper 4x4 use. Unless you go for a proper farm truck like a Toyota hilux.

In fairness, the seller dropped off the armchair for me a couple of hours ago......... and then the wife and I spent a good half hour trying to shoehorn it through doorways into the lounge. And honestly did not think there was any chance of getting it in there. Whoever designs these armchairs needs sacking.

Jeep renegade, proper 4X4 version...

Yes. We looked at the Renegade and my wife really loved the styling but they are pretty rare and everything available (used,up to 2 years old) within 100 miles was 2wd and the nearest dealer is 65 miles / 90 miles from me and we understand jeep locks down its technology so you need a main dealer to do anything other than service repairs. So decided against it despite loving the car. Maybe if I had known a pinball fits in it I would have put up with these downsides.

Eddie Mole had a Renault Megane estate, think about 05, very low boot lip and I think easy to fit one in.

A Honda Accord can fit two full pins!

Most garages since covid allow you to buy the car online and they'll deliver it to your door. Then you have 14 days to decide if you want to keep it under the distance selling regulations. That's how I prefer to buy them these days.

My 1974 built Beetle does have an early ODBC port. I don't think it works for anything on my car but I believe it was required for the cars that had started to have computer analysis for ignition timing, fuel injection, catalytic converters and some basic diagnostics. Mine lacks all of that as it is the basic model.

I do personally prefer messing about with a car where the only things stopping the engine running are:
  1. Does it have fuel?
    1. Is the fuel getting to the carb or is it leaking on the floor.
      1. FIX LEAK BEFORE FIRE
    2. Is the carb delivering fuel
      1. Hit carb to loosen stuck float or drain carb to remove dirt
  2. Is it getting spark
    1. Wiggle HT cables until one gives you a shock.
      1. Inspect, repair as required
    2. How flat is the battery?
  3. Is it getting air?
    1. Check airbox for small rodents

Back to topic.

You can't get a pin in a 1974 built VW Beetle unless you get very angry.
I had a Honda Jazz 2002 model. It did not make me love it, I do not miss driving it. But @cooldan does love his.
My sister has a Volvo 940 estate and I believe you can fit a tank in the boot.
