Right now while it is empty it does indeed look massive. Certainly glad I paid for extra high ceilings.

If it gets too hot in there then you can just knock a hole in the wall with your elbow for some air ;)


The top of that far wall is going to be pre-wired up for a proper split system air conditioner / heat pump, which I will have to add later in the year when I can afford it
 
Did you leave room to be able to get round it and treat it every few years? Also Ivy will try and get in so you need a bit of access:)
 
Extra ceiling height = potential for future mezzanine floor = somewhere to put a camp bed and the porn collection for when the missus gets the hump with you again, and you just want to go to a place that is 100% man. Good thinking ;-)
 
While I am here in the cabin, insulating the roof, getting Celotex dust in my eyes.... I so wish it was finished and full of pinball machines
 
Oh the joys of celotexing(not!!!) rather you than me but it's the best so get on with it :D

Quite agree with just 1 door. Dead space otherwise and better security. Will pay to alarm the shed also as it wouldn't cost must.

I'm not sure what you lining the walls with, but pretty much plasterboard and mdf is a no no. 10mm ply would be best imo.

Also hope you tacked some damp course to the underside of floor stringers. Water will surely get under the floor and sit there?

Hi Si,

The floor is 3x2 tanalised bearers spaced 1 foot apart, topped with 1 inch thick tanalised floorboards, then dampproofing, then 4x2 framing, filling with 50mm Celotex then 18mm hardwood ply ontop.

The walls are 3x2 tanalised framing, with damp proof membrane between the framing and the outer skin, 50mm Celotex and then 15mm Soundbloc plasterboard (the heaviest material in the universe! lol)

The walls and floor are Celotex'd and the ceiling is 75% and I can't believe how warm it gets in there now. I was using a little 1.4KW fan heater and the place became too hot to work in after about an hour and a half, it's literally 10 times warmer than my house already. Going to need Aircon in the summer to remove machine heat I think
 
Your doing a fine job there Luke. Celotex etc is mighty fine stuff but horrid to work with :eek:

This must be costing you 5-6k I'd have thought :D

Big jump in the work there Luke, looking good. Should see you tomorrow evening sometime to help with the plasterboard. Driving back from Workington late afternoon so could get later than first thought.... another late night then !
 
Wiring circuits and first few sections of plasterboard went up last night, signs of the finished look are nearly there !

Any locals offering to help lift and fix plasterboard sections will be gladly received I'm sure. ;)

I believe the door would be wide enough for pretty much any pin (I think it's 33-34inch?) but the problem is my house has a pointless row of bricks that stick out the side of it where the back gate is, and thus the back gate is only something like 27-28inch, thus it's head off to move any pins unfortunately
 
Agree with Carl, remove the bricks,especially if not doing anything. Why go to all the trouble of removing heads,stuff that :)

Insulating and plaster boarding finally finished !!! At last.... ;) Looking good Luke. Looks like it's just waiting for Mr Robinson and then pins in. :)

You changed your mind about knocking those bricks out next to your gate then...? Quicker than taking all the machine heads off.
 
I thought it was a wall sticking outside the perimeter of your house..... :confused: Get me a sledgehammer or a still-saw.
 
Seems daft to have an obstacle stopping you getting machines in or out when you can sort it with little effort.
