Big G’S Bday Bonanza

Just like to thank everyone for coming to another awesome tournament at Tilt, I find being at busy events extremely challenging because of social anxiety and generally that leads to me being stressed out and not wanting to chat openly. So hosting events pushes it to another level.

With Tilts future unknown and this potentially being the last big event, winning today meant more then anyone can imagine. I did have a couple private tears.

Tilt has meant the world to me over the last 9 years and I get so much happiness seeing everyone come together to play pinball together. my only regret is not starting these comps sooner and ignoring the naysayers saying Tilt wasn't suitable as a tournament venue. It is and today was the biggest comp in the UK other the UK Open in last 12 months.

Well done Kirk. Amazing to see so many people at Tilt. We need another one ha ha

Great run to the final @kevlar, we had a great match on Congo but you were on fire all day.

Fully enjoyed the day just very very tiring.
Thanks Dean, probably....no, easily the best I've ever put together in one comp. Pity I fizzled out in the final 😅. Got home at 00.45 so knackered.

Wow that is late and no wonder you fizzled out in the final. I was totally shattered and I left at 6!! Still you had an amazing run to the final mate well played

Just wanted to add my thanks for the tournament yesterday. It was basically a taster tournament for Sam (our eldest, aged 7) as he has recently shown interested in playing. Despite a couple of teary moments he managed to play all 12 rounds, and he was delighted to finish 3rd out of 4 in one of the rounds. He is already asking when he can go to another tournament which is great. A huge thankyou to everyone who gave him words of encouragement, tips on how to play a machine, a round of applause etc. You really helped make it a great day for him and made it easier for us too! Sorry we had to leave before the finals, well done Kirk on the win!

Great day out yesterday, enjoyed the pinball and of course the epic cake. Love having so many people in the same place enjoying the game and also fantastic to see so many new players.

Had an unreal winning streak in the afternoon to drag myself from 49th after five rounds up to =8th, but Gene outclassed me in the round of 16 to give me a slightly earlier night than Kev!

Congrats to Kirk on a well-deserved win 👏 hope there are more days like this at Tilt.

That first ball on Monster Bash yesterday was a joy to watch (24m), he was well ahead of me, Greg and Diane at the end of ball 1.

Shame he couldn't follow it up but promising signs on how well he can play. Absolutely deserved a round of applause. Craig in particular went out of his way to give him tips, props to him

Gaaareth Gaaareth! Got a bit hectic at times but great to see the a fantastic mix of people at Tilt yesterday and some quality pinball being played and enjoyed. Thanks all for coming.

I'll be all up in a lot of your DMs to get some tidbits of info together for a full report - alternatively please message me on WhatsApp or here for any particular personal/other memorable moments, that would really help in writing one.

Glad Sam enjoyed himself. Lovely kid and I'm really surprised he didn't do better in the overall standings. He could quite easily have beaten me and Dave on AiQ. Calm, controlled play and shooting whilst receptive to advice/info. Looking forward to see you all at the next one!

Superb day. Thank you to Kirk and Gene for running things and to the big man Gareth for just being an all round top bloke who played brilliantly all day.

Hopefully Tilt can keep the silverball rolling as it's without doubt one of the very best in the UK

Hard to imagine a teary and anxious Kirk, I've grown accustomed to the '**** off' Kirk. Can totally relate to you on that point though, I left yesterday exhausted mentally and physically and slept like a baby not long after I got home. Amazing win, Kirk! Glad to see the home team bagging one :)

Thanks to @Tilt_Birmingham and @Genotime (And anyone else involved) for hosting, organising and moderating (And reaching top 24, how do you even do all that!?!?!). Was a great first tournament experience, look forward to getting involved in more in the future.

Was also great to bump fists with the Tilt regulars and put so many names from this forum and elsewhere to faces.

Sam has been watching Craig's tutorials (Godzilla, and the flipper skills... up next, star wars) so for Sam it was like meeting someone famous! He made his day!

Yeah I often have that impact on people 🤣

Other than obviously Big Dave Fowler who just hands my ass to me on a plate 👏👏👏. That was an epic matchup but I'll wait for Gene's writeup.

Fantastic win from Kirk, to play like he did and have the pressure of hosting, an incredible achievement 💪

Thanks for an excellent comp as usual, Kirk for hosting & Gene for running. Shame I missed just missed the cut-off (again, curse that Creech!). Cake was also lovely, both in looks & taste.

Fabulous day, I'm really glad me and Will could make it in the end.

Kirk, you played some amazing pinball, and that win was really deserved, especially with all the pressures that come with it being your own venue

That cake was amazing, who made it?

Here's a little vid, best " Happy Birthday" I've ever heard with us all crammed into that room 🙂. Who was the pub singer exercising his range near the end?
