Bank transfer?

I always use my Lloyds account for larger transfers, never an issue. On the other hand Chase are nutty, anything non-GBP or large £ and they’re blocking it and you need to call them to get it sorted
It was Lloyd’s that blocked me .Always used them for large transactions myself for exactly the reason you describe, but not this time And Chase with a second account I tried and yeah, you’re right, they wouldn’t do it and they froze the money too . I ended up with half NatWest and half TSB

It really depends on the bank. I had the misfortune to be with Virgin for about 20 years and all of a sudden they stopped allowing payments of over a grand. Claimed 99% of their customers would never need to transfer that much 🤬

Moved over to Santander who are far more pin purchase friendly.

I get the need for payment protection but it’s infuriating when they block cards etc on pretty standard purchases.

Well, it’s a 2h20m drive there, so I guess I’m just going to have to cross my fingers and hope a day isn’t wiped out by bank shenanigans!

The bank reckons they can sort any issues over the phone if it gets flagged, we’ll see!

Whilst we're moaning, Halifax ****ed me off a year or so ago. Trying to transfer some money out of my account to my daughters account. We're both with Halifax. Both have the same surname. But they were convinced I was being defrauded.

Took about a week for my account to be unlocked with several calls each with agonising security checks. Nothing in the way of apology when it was finally resolved. I don't keep much money in my Halifax account since. It's a good idea to spread it around if you only have one large account was my lesson learned.
