Complete Bally Fathom

On a more relevant note.. Ive recently been thinking I might just sell Gorgar as a project. Too many irons and too little time. Now watching this thread im thinking....but you know maybe...
:)

Got an early start today. Up at 5:30. First job to wire up all the common led connections.

I placed the major mechs back in place to ensure I don’t touch any of them with the bare braid wire. I’ve got the old playfield to use as a reference.

A trick I learnt off pinside was to draw a pencil line on the rear of the playfield where the wire layout goes,I did this when I playfield swapped my centaur and it made life a lot easier

I'll do that next time, thanks Steve!. It would also be useful to pop the mechs back on and draw a pencil line around them too!

Had a few issues with the alignment on two of the drop targets. But eventually got them sorted. Had to dig out my rotisserie so I could spin the playfield round to test it as I was adjusting the mechs.

I also tested and adjusted all the switches whilst it was on the bench.

Tomorrow it’s time to reassemble the upper playfield.

Ran a power up test and noticed the blue drop target bank at the top had an issue. The first drop doesn’t drop properly. Tried to adjust it, but it’s impossible with the playfield vertical in the cabinet, so put it came again!

Took me 90 minutes to figure out the issues. Firstly the target had the wrong spring and wax too weak. Replaced that. Then the rest was down to alignment with the 3 oblong holes in the playfield. It’s tricky to move slightly as the screws just drop back into the holes if already made. In the end I had to use different thinner screws to realign it.

Put the playfield back in and retested. Drops now all ok, but a few switch errors still. Then I noticed a couple of lamps out. One was a header connector issue, one was a broken ledbar and one was a duff scr on the lamp driver board. These are issues I’ve caused as they were all working yesterday???

I’ve had another long day, so will have to finish off tomorrow.
