Another Maybe The Last Matchplay Tournament

How does this one work then folks? guessing a bit different to the tuesday night league? More of a ladder affair with knock outs?
It’s group matchplay. There are 12 rounds, each round you get drawn into a group of 4 (or maybe 3) and a randomly allocated machine. You play a multiplayer game and get points depending on your position, 7/5/3/1 (or 7/4/1 in a three player group). You then wait until the round is complete and a new round will be drawn, so you should have a bit of downtime between rounds unless you’re in the slowest group.

After the 12 rounds, the top X players in terms of points will advance to the playoffs. At Tilt this is usually head to head best of 3 until a winner is crowned.

The most important thing of all is to make sure you don’t play out of turn, need to double check it’s definitely you before you step up. If you plunge somebody else’s ball that’ll be a DQ for that round. As a first timer playing a matchplay tournament that’s the only golden rule, everything else is just have as much fun as you can and have a bit of a sociable chat with the others in the group while you’re waiting for your turn (but not the person currently playing!)

Thanks for everyone for coming along, great day and atmosphere as per usual

Cheers for hosting, organising, teching and officiating Kirk. Busy day for you and much appreciated our end.

Happy to have made my first finals, going out in the Round of 16 probably would have stung less if I hadn't overperformed in the qualifying rounds but onwards and upwards!

You played really well Brad, just keep making playoffs and it’ll eventually fall into place with time and experience!

You are killing it Brad (aka Bad Brad aka Bradie the Baddie).

I may well have sucked at the pinball but I did win the prize for the most girly sounding squeal when my ball drained. Will work on more masculine noises for when I lose a ball!

Yeah, 100% agree with this point. Very cool event. Really enjoyed it.

Looks like it was a good day. Isn't there a final round, for the Midlands league, in Northampton? I know I saw it, but now it looks to have gone.
This was a standalone tournament, but I think you might be after this one, Pinball League

It's a nationwide league that runs monthly across different regions, next one for the Midlands is 18th May in Birmingham. If you're interested in going, worth reaching out to Janice at janicebrock.jb@gmail.com who'll give you all the details.
