The thing is Chris, you started off and I was like yeah, lots of UK folk won't like what he's saying, but there is truth in it, the arrogance with which you are choosing to exude when spouting it was annoying, but it works for you and I get it.

But then at the end you ruined it didn't you, you got all excited and started getting pretty horrible, attacking and nasty, a bully, to people who as you said yourself you don't even know. Have you ever heard of the moral high ground? I guess the moral high ground doesn't get you dollars or stars, but this is the stance you should have taken. You started off taking that approach, doing pretty well, taking your seat on your perch as the villain that everyone loves to blame but saying you forgive us. But you quickly unravelled.

Unfortunately this is why Stern or JJP would never hire you, even though you are clearly excellent at what you do, your true colours shine through

If you asked the above simplistic, you betrayed your source. If you told them how you intended to aire your talk, then they betrayed their source. It is absolutely none of my business either way, but the whole saga is intriguing.

Having read this whole thread, the lead goes cold in the public domain after Gonzo but re-appears at BigIan taking some form of involvement.

They won't hire me because they can't afford me :) These pinball companies marketing is about as pedestrian as it comes, but they don't even need to market as the community almost buys everything sight unseen. If you think my FB live was "bullying" people you have never been bullied my friend. Thought my friends in the UK knew how to take the ****...Heck my Irish wife would find that stream tame. Love ya'll and I'll buy each of you offended a beer with the stars I got. :)

Think everyone should take a deep breath, step back and Phil and Gonzo stop beating yourselves up over it. It’s just some pinball pictures. It’s not like Stern ever does a proper kaunch anyway. They never do anything worthwhile for the reveal of a new game lol. All thats happened is some pictures got out 12hrs early. It’s not like Stern had a 1 million dollar reveal planned with a live band and celebrities and Bond Girls lol. They would have just opened the doors at 9.30am and anyone and their dog coujd take a pic. in 2 weeks no one will care one bit. This hasn’t spoiled anything. Phil you do great events and Kris you do awesome videos. The community is 99.9% great. This is all a storm in a tea cup. Enjoy the tons of games you’ve got. Tune back in in a week 👍🏻

It’s on my visit list r next year too. Have a wedding in Phily. Think it’s about 100 mikes from there 👍🏻 Tgerescanother pkace too isn’t there? That laundry.
 
You do start questioning your life choices slightly when you're waking up at 5.30am to check the drama around a pinball machine that was gonna come out then didn't because some people no normal people have heard of published some dodgy photos of some dodgy photos of Connery, but they weren't supposed to, and then the owner of the machine kicked off and when home to the states because of a dead queen or something.

I know certain people must be mortified (I would be) but honestly from the sidelines it's been super entertaining.

Agreed and nobody should feel mortified. This is the best thing to happen to pinball since multiball. If it wasn't for the blanket news coverage on the Queen and energy prices, this would be in the news at 10. It's all good!
 
1. Stern send their new pinball to UK for a trade show (hush hush - it's top secret)
2. UK importer / main distributor finally sees it as it is carefully unwrapped by a trusted Stern Insider
3. Gasps of shock and horror at the terrible artwork, "This will never sell" they say.
4. How are we gonna shift this lot? they mutter.
5. I, know - lets leak some pics then kick up a fuss - just need to clear it with Gary first.....
6. Ok Trade punters, welcome in - but please remember NO pics and NO leaks please, (then turns back / leaves them unattended).
7. Rest is history......

It will grow on you though 😂

To be fair it is consistent with all the other Bond 60th Anniversary merchandise …… can’t blame Stern for this one, their arms are tied by the License

Having just got my first Modern Stern - GZ (when I say modern, I mean LCD - I do have a Stern Star Trek Pro), I would say that I am up for another one fairly soon. However, 2 things.

1. I don't feel it's a good idea to have 2 new pins in the house - I find I will not give either machine my full attention - I really want to immerse myself in GZ until I am really au-fait with it.
2. It's all about the gameplay - is it a great game or not? I have to wait. I'm not buying blind again - I did with JJP POTC and R&M and both were not great games - good but not "stand the test of time" classics. I have no FOMO - I've realised you can get any pin you want (if you are prepared to pay for it). so I will wait, see how it fares, then decide.

In all the run of recent modern sterns - most are clunkers. DP and GZ are the only ones that stand out for me. That tells me there is a 1 in 6 chance this will be a good one.

Modern pinball, when one nib game at home is enough ... I don't think it will catch on sir ;)

For me, if I was lucky enough to have a batman 66, I'd be working out how to fit this pin in. If I had a GZ, I'd feel the pin would not line up well aesthetically and would need something in between them.

As it is it's all academic, I have neither the room, funds or financial backing to have any pin made after 1990, so I just daydream.

If this isn’t a PR scoop by Stern (and, if it isn’t, they need to get a new PR*), then I think they were seriously naive and it doesn’t matter who leaked it - someone was always going to…

Leaked photos is nothing new for stern I usually check the “next new stern” thread most days before a release just to see the leaked photos that are always there lol
