Go on then Neil, is it based on recent Bond or the theme as a whole over the course of the franchise?
I don’t know.

but what I can say now is - I was at meeting with folks who run the 007 franchise and I mentioned pinball - they responded - oh we’ve just licensed 007 to a pinball company in Chicago! So it wasn’t the next game but I knew it was coming and it’s been an amusing three years watching Ian’s replies to James Bond! I’ve got a special ceremony planned for when I unbox the LE! 😂

IIRC Gary Stern opened a distributor meeting in London in 2019 with a photo of Jaws (the Bond Villain) and enigmatically said 'a future game'.

The last Bond movie was plagued with covid delays which inevitably will have delayed the release of assets to licensees.

Additionally, some people assumed showing jaws photo was a pun on the fact Stern would be making a Jaws movie licensed from Spielberg, further compounded by a game in development having the code name 'jaws', which turned out to be Jurassic.

Interesting! The release of it was yes but I principal filming was finished in September 2019.

In my opinion the bond theme is potentially too divisive to produce pinball that won't be disappointing on some level. It will be 'the wrong bond', have 'the wrong quips', include toys from 'the wrong film' and invariably will be met with "It's a good machine but I wish they had done ...". Pretty much guaranteed to disappoint on some level. Fans of Bond are usually polarised and enjoy a particular era of Bond (read comments above).
If the game play is fundamentally good then it will be a 'good machine' but I'm not convinced about a theme from a film franchise with such a wide range of actors and fifty eight years of varied styles.

For your Eyes Only
Bibi : Don't you like me?
James Bond : Why, I think you're wonderful, Bibi... but I don't think your uncle Aris would approve.
Bibi : Him? He thinks I'm still a virgin.
James Bond : Yes, well... you get your clothes on... and I'll buy you an ice cream.

like Star Wars I guess and Harry Potter !

as long as the ball and flippers is good it doesn’t worry me.

If it’s based on a single movie then I’ll be extremely happy with any of:

Diamonds are Forever

Live and Let Die

The Man with the Golden Gun

Moonraker

Octopussy

A View to a Kill

Never say Never Again

License to Kill

Goldeneye

Casino Royale

I am a huge Bond fan and this could be my first NIB Stern. Will be interesting to see what they do with it, I don't see them focusing on one film unless it was the last one "No time to Die", that would fit with the Aston Marin tie in and too many movies to include them all. I just hope they have enough of the license to do it justice. Time will tell.

I would be astounded if Danjaq allow anything other than the current Bond. Unless they've learned lessons from videogames they'll even insist on having Daniel Craig retrospectively added as Bond to the older classic film references.

Just watched View to a Kill.
Funny quote in the fire engine:
Roger: Here, hold this!
Stacey, looks over dumbfounded……
Roger: The wheel, the wheel!
😂

Brosnan only drove an Aston in one film as I recall as Aston was dragged back from the brink of failure. it was BMW and Jag for him mostly. And V12 Vanquish was the invisible car - cant see it being based on that.

Connery, Lazenby, Dalton and Craig drove Aston Martins’ and I think it will be the obvious one to use - the DB5. easy to use the car in three modes. One an ejector seat, two sone sort of ball shot from the front and three a ball holder/block from the rear. It’s the sort of toy George Gomez loves to build.

Neil.

As a theme Bond does less than zero for me. As a kid I liked the movies but they haven’t aged well.

So saying I felt the same thing about Godzilla and Stern really pulled that one together, so fingers crossed.

Bit of Trivia:
Roger Moore was the Incumbent Bond at 55 years old doing Octopussy in 1983
Sean Connery returned to do Bond 1983 at 52 to do Never say Never Again
I think that’s was probably one of Sean’s best Bonds.
Just shows, never too old 😂

I’ve been cycling through Metaluna 5 Media AKA Chris Franchi artwork.
We all know this has been up there a while but , is this something he has in mind? I hope so…
