so someone leaked pictures on facebook. They are gone but has admitted in the PPS forum that's the next game, which of course we all knew but good to be official.

I'll be interested to see what price point they go for on this one - AFM is a great game and I miss mine, but I don't see them selling half as many as MMR if they go for the same pricing. I think they have an opportunity to release it at a lower price point that will make it very attractive vs a NIB Stern, but somehow I don't see them doing so. Is the full announcement expected at TPF in March?

That's what Rick hinted at.

The pound to dollar makes this a challenging purchase also!

A very low-key release announcement, if that's what they're calling this.

An AFM for sale in the UK at over £7k is going to be a very hard push, but seems highly unlikely it'll be any lower given the current pricing trends and currency markets.

I also miss AFM, but not 'seven grand' miss it. Although i did sell my refurbished original for nearly that amount!

I played it a couple of weeks ago.

Judging by the colour display pricing for MMr I think we can all guess where the pricing on this is heading.

Indeed - going to free gold watch tomorrow to play a bit of AFM and see if I like it or not.

I'm tempted by it because the MMR I have is the most reliable solid machine in my line up.

AFM is great but very similar to MM in both ruleset and playfield layout. Had them both at the same time and it was very noticeable.

They're similar games, although MM is more complex. Preferences seem to be driven by favored theme. I just like Sci-fi more than castle crenulations. But then i'm also enjoying Iron Man more than Walking Dead at the moment. Maybe less is more for me - a policy i live by.

If they add all the good mods, light up alien eyes, saucer led kit etc, and the pound recovers I might be tempted.

I used to own one of them alternative cab decal ones and I do miss it.

AFM and MM are two of the best playing Williams games in my opinion.
They are very similar rules and layout wise and I used to favour AFM over MM, but since owning a remake I have a slight preference towards MM now. That might change again if I get to own another AFM.

I just hope they surprise us with lots of goodies to make the purchase worthwhile but we'll have to see, my expectations are fairly low.

And one of these - cool mod - lights start green and every time ship is hit they turn red.

Curious to see what he LE has added over factory.

I would be amazed if there are any mods - even the MMR has some of the design issues of the original!

Really can't see Rick pricing AFMr cheaper than MMr. He's not one to leave a cent on the table. For me AFM is the better game but second hand prices would indicate I'm in a minority here. I must get mine back at some time in the near future.

Just been listening to The Pinball Podcast No 97, they had said that Stern wouldn't be making games for other companies due to their own problems recently.

I know it's only say so but it could have some truths in it.

They said the opposite at expo!

Great game, love the call outs, suppose they must be hard to get in the states

hopefully not. It's just one of the few redecalled cabinets that used different artwork. There's one of these doing the rounds in the UK, although it might have been caught in a money dungeon (new collector games room) by now.
I have this one that was doing the rounds with the cabinet decals, new playfield and colour dmd, plus some of dreads mods, great game, although I`ts upstairs not in my dungeon:thumbs:

LOL @ Moneydungeon terminology. Its bang on. I had one myself, then gave myself a slap at some point to claw back the thousands i blew on it. Then, you curse the day you got rid, get more obsessed and buy everything in sight until the cycle repeats itself.....

Slap, sell, cry, buy. In that order. Every single time.:D

Ten years in the hobby.

AFM is the only game I have ever bought twice.

Funnily enough out of 50 games it's the only game my wife has ever liked playing:clap:

I just HAVE to own MM one day. It got me into pinball and i never managed to get one as it was always well out of my range. I will make it happen somehow, someday.

I bought my AFM in 2011 for 2800 and have no plans to ever sell it as it's my fave pin. I will be buried in it. How much are they now, and how much is this remake?

I would have thought you could still get a good AFM for 4k. I'm guessing the remake will be the same price as MMr so double the price (+ more for the colour software).

Anyone got any idea of how many MMrs were sold. Initial run of 1000 then maybe the same again? That's a cool £16m taken out of people's pinball funds at today's prices:eek:. (Even at the original price point it was £13m). Guess there is some money to be made in manufacturing still.

I wonder what the minimum threshold for viability is. 800? If MMr was originally only meant to be a 1000 run then maybe breakeven is 500 or so.
