AC/DC - It's Official

Well at least with that terrible huge face gopping in the middle of the playfield, no-ones gonna be tempted with a PRO....

Wow, just wow...........

How could they make a theme like AC/DC look so bad? And $6999 for an LE?? This will make TRON prices rise
wink-1.png

All that hype .........ah well, at least won't be tempted to buy one:D

It was always a toss up between woz and ac/dc for me. At least I know I made the right choice now

One of the best looking machines ever was Centaur. I assumed that AC/DC would look something like that. A missed opportunity - it's just too red!

Like others have said - Im trying to reserve judgement until i see the other versions, but its bloody hard as that playfield is such a horrible colour

Have previously set aside the money to get one of these, thought it would be a total shoe-in combining a band a really like and a designer whos made some of the better pins, but now got very serious doubts.

And here are the UK prices from PH. Wow, the LE is a lot of money:eek:

The PRO will be £3995 (normal price £4295)

The PREMIUM will be £5695 (ouch)

The LE will be £6095 (OUCH)

The stern music themed pin curse will devour this one too methinks......

Jacking up the prices on the LE's too.??? Gawd!.....

2 grand over the pro, yeah, good luck with that.

it makes the 15-20 year old B/W seem like a bargain ,I know it's not Phil's fault but Jebus . that is a whole lotta corn

I really wish they would just make the one game ....by all means do an LE for those collectors that *must* have something limited, but just bling it a bit. When you are adding in mini playfields etc though you are making 2 very different games.

Spiderman released June 2007 cost £3200 and was a fully featured game

For the PREMIUM (i.e. normal fully featured game) just four and a half years later it's now £5700? That's crazy in anybody's book and let's face it, there's been zero innovation with cabinets, boards etc

Ahh but all the additional £££ will be going towards the innovation of new sound and platform..... the the next game (or the next..)... yeh right....

They may as well rename them....

The VALUE will be £3995 (normal price £4295)

The STANDARD will be £5695

The SPECIAL EDITION will be £6095

So the game may play ok, however a lot have said it's not the most attractive, and also the price has gone up.

Personally, if i had the cash, i'd rather buy a Good condition Spiderman, and i LIKE AC/DC!!! Or a Tron!

Stern will sign their own Death warrant eventually - mark my words!

As some may know i was getting a tad excited about this.Thought for once it may be less "photo"look, and more cartoony, and possibly more basic colours - sorta like Centaur.

I don't mind the Angus face,as lower pf would prob make it look ok-and I do love lower pf's(after all i have HH and BH:)).

Was a bit like a balloon popping when i saw it:(

However the biggest killer is the price.

As has been said standard is over £5.5k:eek:Doubt I could ever justify that, and that aint a limited edition one!Would need to sell my MM and summat else(testicle maybe?)to fund that.

Thank fook I have a Spiderman, and was less than 40% of the "standard" AC/DC price:confused:

Does get me thinking,is having A.N other pinball company good for pinball.Since there have been two companies making games the prices have gone up well over a £1k.how is that good for pinball?Do they really think many ops in the UK or elsewhere will pay for anything other than a pro version(and that may be pushing it in these trying times).Plus you essentially get an incomplete game.

As an aside, thinking TF prob looks better.

Gameplay wise-well,we will all have to see:rolleyes:

Yep to put that into perspective,I could get my HH,BH,BRun,G n R,and LOTR for the "proper"version with money left over,or AFM and SM - sheesh:confused: Know what i would prefer 2 or 5 over one anyday.Unless of course it was "the best game ever:p"

Good point Chris !

Do like the sound of the features on the Premium .... but like I said its starting to be like a different game, I see besides the lower playfield they have also added crossover track between ramps.

Still ...I can't wait to play it. Roll on the Slam
wink-1.png

Back in black edition sounds like it will look better at least but a swinging bell and plastic train do not = £2000!

Wow, I had such high expectations on this one and now I feel a bit winded!

I reckon the LE? model will be a good / great player, if all the targets become drop type, bell rings, crossover ramp? etc but the face, even in a mini playfield is gonna make it a thing of ridicule when it should be a thing of coool !

Rules should be a big factor though and I reckon it will be fast and throbbing. I sort of wish JJP made this one as the build quality look typically stern like ( eg I have been playing a pretty new Rolling stones recently and the amount of problems it has is unbelievable, for a new machine.)

They should have released the high end spec pictures and details first rather than this Pro model.

Do I still want one? Yes, a Back in Black LE model but how much!?

As everyone knows, I distribute new pins over in Ireland ... well from now on, I will also be distributing new Stern pinball machines in the UK.

These machines are full UK-spec pins and come with a full 90-day Parts & Labour warranty. They are ROHS compliant and have the CE mark - meaning they are 100% legal, for use in the UK.

I can offer the new AC/DC pin at the following prices (inclusive of VAT):

AC/DC Pro - £4,150

AC/DC Premium - £5,650

AC/DC LE Back To Black - £5,950

Set up & delivery is usually £120 but could be more or less, depending on location. Collection is also possible from a pre-arranged location.

A £500 deposit secures a Pro model and a £2,000 deposit secures a Premium or LE model.

Part-exchanges are also considered.

Pros will be available between the 2nd-3rd week February and the Premiums/LEs will be available the 2nd-3rd week of March.

If you want an LE Back To Black then you need to be quick as the run is quite small and could well sell out fast with this title.

For any questions or further info, please email me directly at andrew@pinball.ie

Thanks for reading,

Andy

Im still in 2 minds. I was expecting so much more after all the hype but if you forget all that and just compare it to the last 3 or 4 Sterns then its not too bad. Sounds like the BIB edition is the one to own and sounds a lot closer to the sort of pin people were expecting. Shame there's only going to be 300 of them and they are nearly double what Sterns were selling for a couple of years back

I like AC/DC (though not THAT much) and I have to say I'm all the more happy I have a Tron now
smile-1.png

Not that I was ever likely to be able to afford one! Angus' head at that size, right in the middle of the table is just plain gopping, on a par with chrome on the Tron LE.

That's what Stern offer - so I am offering the same, along with labour

Scarily expensive! Got to be a cracking soundtrack though. It will be interesting to see what the other versions play like cos it doesn't seem as if there's a lot to the pro. I still want to play it however!

Is anyone on here a massive AC/DC fan and just had to take the plunge? Seems like WOZ is the more popular choice for those with a bit of cash. Question for you all then - If you had won Friday's Euromillions and could only buy one of the two games, what would it be - Legends of rock or Yellow brick road?
